After the final exams were finished, Shadow decided to come to a drinking party his classmates have arranged as celebration of completing the exams.
After all the pestering from his classmates, he thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal to attend and thought if it wasn't to his liking he would just go home.
After school, his classmates immediately dragged him with them to nearby bar and into a private room.
There were some people from his class as well as people from different classes have joined too. Among the bunch, shadow spotted sonic, who mostly stood out because of this blue hair. He and sonic talked from time to time, like just small talk every now and then. Shadow enjoyed watching sonic as his emotions clearly display on his face as he talked, easily expressing his feeling, something shadow was incapable of doing so himself.
As everyone gathered around, there were a couple of guys who pushed everyone to have a drink. shadow watched as two guys pressured sonic into drinking, just by the look on his face, shadow sound tell he wanted to refuse but couldn't.
Drinks were also given to shadow, his alcohol tolerance was quite high so he didn't have to worry about getting wasted in front of everyone so it wouldn't hurt having a drink or two.
After a few hours, shadow was beginning to get bored and his urge to go home grew as more people were getting drunk and the noise level was increasing.
Just as he was about to inform everyone he was leaving, he heard gasps to the right of him and turned to see that sonic had just threw up all over the guy next to him. turns out he was a lightweight.
"oh god, he's gone at this point, does anyone want to help him get home?" asked one person. Seeing this as an opportunity to leave, Shadow volunteered to take him home.
"here, hold onto me." shadow instructs as sonic did what he was told. Shadow said his goodbyes as he left along with sonic.
"uh, i'm gonna catch u a cab, where do you live?" shadows asks.
Sonic tells him his address as they wait for the cab to arrive. This sit on a bench, sonic breathing in the fresh air to regain some sense.
"have you sobered up?" shadow asks.
"yeah, thanks i needed out of there" sonic replies. "yeah i could tell, your face said it all"
"whatttt, that's embarrassing.." sonic says as he turns to face the ground.
"it really isn't, you know you can just refuse next time, no one's forcing you."
"yeah i know, it's just like if i'm there i might as well do what everyone else is doing."
"i guess so."
There was a moment of silence before sonic spoke again. "uh so, what were you doing there? You don't strike me as a person who'd attend something like this."
"yeah that's true, but i thought might as well as we graduate soon. i also thought that even if i go, i could just leave when i felt like it."
"hahah, that's just so you." sonic replied in between laughs.
"you think so?"
"i do."
Just as shadow was about to reply to that, the cab showed up. Shadow helped sonic up as he opened the door and sonic got in.
"alright, uh, get home safe." shadow hesitantly said. as he was going to close the car door, sonic grabbed his wrist with pleading eyes.
"you're not coming with me?"
for some reason, shadow felt like he just couldn't say no.
"fine, i'll come."
