| Slight Angst | Fluff | 0.9K | No Warmings |
The crowd cheered loudly as you made your first home run of the match, you smiled to yourself when you saw Florence front row cheering you on while wearing a shirt with your last name and player number. "WOOHOO!!" She yelled with her hands on each check to echo the chant.
Florence did her best to come to as many of your games as she possible could and if she couldn't, she was usually caught watching a live stream of the game on her phone, cheering you on even though you couldn't hear her. Something about having your girlfriend in the crowd made your heart warm and your stomach jitter.
"YOU'VE GOT THIS BABY!" you heard Florence call as you made your way for your next set, grabbing the baseball bat from a fellow team member. The pitcher threw the ball the hardest they could, you missed when you swung. The crowd ooo'd but cheered loudly again when you hit the ball as best you could the second time.
"GO BABY, GO!!" Florence called as you ran to first base. Hearing her being so supportive always made you want to play harder and push your own limits to be the best player on the field that you know you can be. It was no doubt that Florence is your biggest supporter, she's always posting on her story about your games, sneaking a photo or video of you on the field for her millions of followers. Even though you loved having Florence on the side-lines supporting you, you never let your heard leave the game. Your entire focus was on the game and your teammates.
Throughout the entire match you could hear Flo cheering you on even if you missed the ball or didn't make it to the next base, you never wanted to stop hearing her loving voice in the background. That's how you met her, at game many years ago. She was in the crowd cheering on each one of your team members as well as you, it was clear it was her favourite team, and you couldn't stop stealing a few looks at her while you waited your turn. After the match you signed a few autographs for those on the side line and smiled when you came to Florence, you recognised her from movies but still played it cool while you sighed her shirt that now is framed and hung up on the wall at home. "You played a great game" she smiled, you thanked her, and the rest is history, although you still like to playfully tease her about how she was the one to message you on Instagram after that game.
Unfortunately for you and the team, this game wasn't in the bag, and it was a loss to add to the books. Even though you were tired and disappointed, seeing Florence waiting for you outside the change rooms always made you smile. "I'm sorry we lost tonight darling" she hugged you, "I still think you all play a great game" she added. "Thanks baby" you kissed her cheek as you pulled away from the hug. Passing team members gently patted you on the back and said 'good game' as they walked out with their sports bag. "Let's get home, I'll cook your favourite for dinner" she suggested, "sounds like a great idea, I could use a bath thought" you added walking out hand in hand with her. "I brought some new muscle relaxing salts for you" she couldn't help herself but peck your cheek, "what would I do without you" you smiled.
The first thing you did when you were home was bath of course, the warm water and new salts Florence brought were a treat to your body as it relaxed fully. The game playing on your mind like they usual do if you lost a game, you knew you couldn't win every game, but every loss brought a bit of disappointment. You train hard for these games, you put a lot of time into them, so it was natural to feel down after losing a game.
Florence called out when dinner was almost ready, giving you time to get out of the bath and into some comfortable clothing before joining her at the dining table. She set the table, a little surprise to you, with a selection of 3 electrolyte drinks in your favourite flavours to choose from, your favourite desert in the centre of the table ready for after dinner and of course, the main meal. Florence smiled softly at you for comfort knowing you were beating yourself up inside about losing the game.
"Baby" she stood from her hear and gently wrapped her arms about the back of your neck, naturally your hands found her hips and pulled her closer into your body. "I know you're upset about tonight but don't beat yourself up about it, you played so, so good and in my books you won. I saw how hard you played tonight and I'm so proud of you, I always am, win or lose" she brought one hand to stroke your cheek softly, "I mean that" she added. Looking to her eyes you could see clearly just how much she loves you and how much she cares for you.
Without a word you pressed your lips on hers and smiled against her lips, "thank you baby, you always make me feel better" you spoke softly before kissing her once more. "Come on superstar, let's eat" she chuckled when you swung her around by her hips and placed a kiss on her cheek, "this looks amazing" you commented before the two of you took your seats.
"All for you my darling" she smiled.
