The bright sun light came shining through in between the rose colored curtains, causing Cassie to stir in her bed. She lazily blinked at the bright light and sat up slowly in bed. Her head felt like a load of bricks had fallen on her. For a second, she could swear she heard a slight static noise humming through her ears. She shook her head carefully and the noise seemed to fade. Cassie wrote it off as just a weird effect of waking up with a monster headache.
Yawning and stretching her arms up above her head, Cassie took a good look around her room. Her walls were bright pink and lime green and a bright orange couch sat in the far corner of the room. There was one large window that had her rose mesh curtains draped over it. Her bright yellow sheets had sweet little blue and purple wildflowers all over them. Cassie smiled and got up to start her day. Wally had promised to take her on a tour of the neighborhood.
Making her way across the room to a very large and color filled closet, she began to pick out the perfect outfit. She settled on a sweet pink 1950's style swing dress with little strawberries all over it. It had a white sash that went around the waist and tied off in a large fluffy bow at the back. She paired it with some light green tights and little white lace frilly socks that went with her little white ballerina flats. Cassie decided to pull her long curly tangerine colored hair into a cute fluffy ponytail with a bright red bow and she brushed out her bangs so that they stayed in place. She walked over to her full length mirror and admired her outfit.
Cassie did a little gleeful twirl and giggled at herself.
"Today is going to be a fun-tastic day!" She said to her reflection as cheerfully as she could. As she smiled and fluttered her dress, Cassie made direct eye contact with herself in the mirror.
Strange. Something felt...strange as she stared at herself. Her smile began to fade as her hands slowly rested at her sides. There seemed to be a shadowy darkness slowly enveloping the room around her. Cassie's eyes held the blank stare for what seemed like forever. The static noise crept eerily into her ears once more. She tried to move her hand, her arm, anything but she found her body was not her own. She couldn't even find her voice to maybe shout for help. All she could do was stare, frozen on the spot. A single tear began to run down her face.
'Please....stop.......' the words ran through her clouded mind, desperate to come out. The room swelled with an unsettling feeling, as if the happiness it once held was being drained away. A chill ran down her spine...

Ding dong.....

The doorbell rang.

Suddenly it all stopped.

The room looked exactly the way it did when Cassie had woken up. The bright colors gleamed in the natural light coming from the window.

Had she imagined the whole thing? Cassie was able to lift her hands and she could move her legs. 'Strange....' the word was all she could come up with. The static had gone away. She wondered if it was ever really there. She started to reach out to her reflection when she remembered the doorbell. Shaking her head, she once again put on a happy smile and skipped down her hallway to see who had come to visit. She swung open her door and immediately giggled at the figure leaning against her doorway.

"Hello Wally."
