Alarms blared out with red lights flashing, deafening the nearby soldiers that scampered in the black and dimmed hallway. All that was heard were the shouts that rang throughout. One trooper was helping a wounded comrade who had been missing a single leg.
The place where the soldier's leg was also had yellow-orange sparks fly off, appearing to have been a fresh and bloody wound. The soldier groaned in pain, to which the medic comforted him, asssuring that they were almost there.
Let alone the person that was wounded, everyone that was in the hallway were petrified, for this could be the last moments of their lives. When the wounded man went through to safety, all of the rest of the troopers hesitantly gazed into the darkness.
They charged their blasters and primed them. A menacing, eerie silence follows, only causing matters to be worse for the troopers. Hearts pounding, sweat pouring down, very few couldn't keep their fingers simply steady on the trigger.
One soul accidentally fires his weapon, shooting into the blackness. While everyone slightly jumped at the sight, the laser bursts through in a hurry, colliding with a sealed door. However, when the laser quickly raced through, a shadow could be seen by the unfortunate ones that were eagle-eyed.
Others were asking what was seen, only to be told to get ready for the calamity that was inevitably coming to claim their lives. Heavy footsteps were marching toward the soldiers, one by one adding more to their growing fears. Every stomp was separated by a few seconds, causing quite the inscrutable suspense.
The footsteps abruptly halt. Suddenly, a creak in the walls echoes, just enough to make everyone's skin crawl. The silence uncomfortably returns, never once consoling those that were continuously shaking with sheer dread.
An ebony blade steadily emerges, with white outlines only illuminating the small area. The shadow's face was made unknown to the troopers, who quietly breathed in anxiety. They secretly growl in the darkness, making the others wonder what they could've been facing.
"OPEN FIRE!"
Shots were rained upon the lone wielder, only to then be reflected back. A few soldiers go down and bleed to death. Some were simply sliced and dismembered. Agonizing screams and bloodcurdling cries for help, they were never to be answered.
