Warning: Small mention of blood
I look down at the dreamcatcher, or what I think is a dreamcatcher, in the box before taking it out and holding it in one hand. Strangely enough, as I held it, it felt warm and was pulsating.
Almost like a heart...
"What the fuck..." That only just confirmed my suspicions of it really not being a dreamcatcher, considering dreamcatchers don't usually beat like a heart.
Quickly deciding to just ignore it, I tilt my head up toward the ceiling trying to look through my memories of where I've seen this before. It only takes me a few moments to remember a certain memory, and while a bit fuzzy for how much time has passed. It was a memory I couldn't forget.
No. I definitely couldn't forget that memory.
Not after that happened.
"pleeeeease? Can't I stay up a bit longer Mom?" I ask as Mom sighs tiredly. "No. We've gone over this [NAME], it's a school night and you need rest."
"But other kids are able to stay up late, so why can't I?" I wined.
My other Mother walked in and patted her lover on the shoulder. "Hey, how 'bout you go get ready for bed love? I'll take over from here." My Mom shot a grateful look over to her and kissed her on the cheek before leaving.
Mama chuckles before walking over to the side of the bed and sits down. "Hey little spitfire, what got you so upset? I could hear you from down the hall."
I look down at my sheets with a pout. "I wanna stay up late but Mom keeps saying no."
"Ok... are you sure it's not something to do with the other kids? 'Cus I'm sure I heard you saying something about them before I walked in." She asked with a knowing look. I turn my head away before caving.
"Some of the kids in my class have been bragging about being able to stay up later than the rest of us." She had a look of realization after that before smiling and patting me on the head.
"So basically, you're jealous over the fact other kids are able to do something while you can't."
I nodded my head while leaning into her touch. She sighed and I looked up at her. " Are you... mad at me?" I asked hesitantly.
Her eyes widen before quickly shaking her head. "What? No! Of course not. It is perfectly normal to feel jealous sometimes and I'm not going to be mad at you for something like that." I look at her when she gently grabs my hands.
"But you gotta be careful to not let that jealousy get the better of you. I have seen people who have let jealousy take over and have it be their downfall. I don't want that to happen to you. And look, I know you don't like going to bed at 8, but we do that cus we want you to grow big and strong. If it means you have a bedtime to get enough hours of sleep to be healthy, then your getting that bedtime."
She kisses me on the top of my nose causing me to giggle. "We do all this because we love you, never forget that. Ok?" I nod and she smiles before tucking me in.
She walks over to the light, about to shut it off until I stop her. "Hey, Mama?" She turns her head to look at me.
"Ya, spitfire?"
"Have you ever been jealous before?"
She laughs, "Of course I have, but I'll you more about it tomorrow. You got a big day ahead of you, so goodnight little spitfire."
