Uzlos and I remained in that room for two days straight, completely entwined in one another. Both of us got little sleep. If my dark circles were bad, they were far worse now. When Gabris and multiple other servants knocked on the door, I only told them I was getting rest from the lack of sleep. Most believed it. When it was Chither who knocked on the door, I don't think I had him convinced. Instead of chiding me or demanding I attend the lesson, he just told me to meet with him in two days.It was bliss for those two days. Wrapped in each other's warmth, it was utter bliss. Small bruises lined both of our necks and shoulders. Tiny whispers were exchanged through the soft fabric of the blanket that covered us. For the first time in my life, I felt the love only a lover could show. Uzlos was more than that. We were each other's breath, touch, smell, sight. It was all we were in those linens.
That moment made me feel like I had known him for eternity, yet I felt like I now knew an entirely new person. Every bit of each other was discovered. A bond was tied to us that we could both feel. It was primal, ancient even. It felt like it was forged at the beginning of time and would continue to exist till the end of time. With every breath and with every sense I had was only the love for him.
I was still me, and he was still him, but without the complications of who we were in this world. It was the rawest version of us in those sheets. It was the souls who existed within ourselves that were there, not who we were when we left the room.
Eventually, reality did come back to me. We both had to leave the room. He and I had been missing for the past two days, we had to leave the room at some point. Yet, when I left the room to head to Chither's chambers, I felt a delicate tug on the thread that bound us together.
"Did you get some rest?" Chither asked from the armchair he sat in. Once again his eyes were covered in the blindfold, but his head pointed to me. His neck was wrapped in gauze. I assume even a god could not heal themselves of a divine prophecy.
"Yes." I lied.
"Mm..." a smile grew on his face, "I'll keep the fact that Uzlos was also in your room a secret. I only hope to experience what you have."
"How..."
"Being blind does wonders for your other senses, and being a cholarian, I could smell a mating bond being tied before I knocked on your door."
My face heated. I knew that he didn't believe me, but the fact he could smell what was going on was far too embarrassing.
"The only thing I appreciate about these prophecies is being told my mate would be born two hundred years from now. I wait for the day that I meet them." He gave a faint smile, "I just hope destiny brings them to me in some way."
"I can't help but worry..."
"You're worried about loving an immortal." His face was one of pity, "His love for you will never die, and neither yours for him. Though we are immortal, we can always die. You may wait a long time, but eventually, you will find yourselves together again."
"Even if I grow old and he has to watch me die?"
"Even then, his love will never die." He confirmed.
Though he had an un-aging face, forever frozen in beauty, he had the wisdom of countless lifetimes. I let my emotions relax. I would let myself enjoy the time I had with Uzlos. We would figure out everything else later.
"Alright, now that the mating business is over, let's go over reading the web." He clapped his hands together enthusiastically, ready to get started.
The leaf with the web was right where I left it. Grabbing it, Chither made me sit close to him as he told me what to do. First, he helped me with connecting my mark to the web. When I finally felt the connection, tiny whispers sounded throughout the room. Not a single one was decipherable, but that was to be expected.
