Izuku could honestly say seeing something like this close up is somewhat exciting, and also a bit terrifying.
While Death Arms prevented a large metal beam from hitting civilians below, Backdraft was keeping people back, and Kamui Woods, the rising star hero, took on the large villain.
Then came time for him to actually make his move.
"You can do it, Kamui!" A group of fangirls said.
Okay Izuku understood that, but literally drooling over him was too much.
However, Kamui instead jumped away.
"Now!"
Then...
"CANYON CANNON!"
A massive woman came through and hit the criminal with a flying kick, knocking him away to the ground unconscious, as she then hit the ground landing on her feet.
She rose and went over to the villain.
"Wait...is that..."
"OMG, it's that new heroine, Mt Lady!" Replied another fangirl.
Mt Lady had apprehended the criminal as she turned to the civilians with a smile on her face.
The media, the male reporters that is, were trying to get photos.
Despicable pervs.
"You know it's rude to photograph me at a time like this. As for this criminal, everything is now under control."
The reporters obviously ignored her clear annoyance and continued on.
In truth, Izuku had suspected she would be ogling for the cameras, but, that wasn't the case.
She and Kamui seemed to work pretty well together, he suspected they'd be paired up more often in the future.
After Mt Lady shrank down and the criminal was handed over to police, Izuku decided to get her to sign his notebook, she seemed pretty nice.
He also decided to do this for the other heroes on scene.
Death Arms had seemed a bit annoyed about it, but gave in.
(Aka, couldn't deny our precious bean)
Backdraft signed without any issue, seeming more neutral about it.
Kamui was a bit tougher, as he gave in, though it took a few requests.
Then Mt Lady was pretty easy.
"Oh, hello. Who might you be?"
"Midoriya, Izuku Midoriya. I was on my way home, but then I saw all this. Um, I think you and the others were pretty cool." He said nervously as he nearly sweat dropped.
"Well thank you, but it is our duty as heroes to protect those who cannot defend themselves from criminals like this. I assume you want me to sign your book?" She smiled gesturing to his book.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot already."
"It's fine, hand it to me and I'll sign it."
And so after she signed it, she returned it and bid him goodbye for now.
Though Izuku had a big question he had to ask someone, any hero at this point.
"Wait."
She stopped and turned as he called out, then stood in wait.
"I have a question to ask and...I'm worried about the answer."
She nodded slowly.
"Your question?"
He took a deep breath.
"Can a person without a quirk, a person like me, become a hero?"
The air was tense after that.
By this point only Mt Lady, Kamui, Death Arms, and Backdraft, and Izuku himself were still in the street, which had been blocked off for repairs.
Kamui had moved to speak, though Mt Lady had put up a hand as if to silence him.
She walked over and put a hand on his shoulder, and smiled.
"Midoriya, quirkless or not, anyone can become a hero, all you need is the drive to become one."
...
"He finally gets it, he'll never be a hero."
"One can't be a hero without a quirk Izuku, honestly, you have the most ridiculous of dreams."
"A hero? A quirkless wonder like you?"
No, what she just told him had contradicted what many others in the past had told him.
He had grown to actually believe those words, but, hearing from Mt Lady, a hero with a quirk, telling a quirkless person like him, that he could be a hero regardless.
It felt like a weight lifted from his shoulders.
"I-I...."
He started to cry so he covered his face in embarrassment.
"What is it?" She asked with pure concern and slight curiosity.
"Nothing! It's just...you're the first person to ever say that to me."
.
.
.Yu Takeyama froze up.
"Nothing! It's just...you're the first person to ever say that to me."
What?
Did the child have no friends?
What of his family? Did they not encourage him?
That statement itself was greatly concerning.
She decided to put her smile back on her face, asking about it now wouldn't work, it would likely just scare the boy away.
"Well, no matter the opinions of others, always follow wherever your heart and dreams take you, Midoriya."
.
.
.This day has been...the best day of his life.
Izuku had been used to everyone making fun of him, picking on him, singling him out as a quirkless wonder.
But...the rookie hero, Mt Lady, a pro hero with a quirk, had told him, a quirkless person, that he could be a hero.
It felt so liberating to hear.
After he'd gotten home earlier, mom had berated him, and called him an utter disappointment, per usual, and he ignored her, something he'd never done before.
He was riding on a high and not even she was gonna bring him down.
He would show them!
He would show his mother, Kacchan, and all those others!
And he'd prove to them and Mt Lady, whom he now looked up too so much, that he, Izuku Midoriya, the quirkless wonder, would become one of the greatest heroes.
*Yes, I know Mt Lady and other characters are ooc for this story, but idc, in loving where I'm going with this lol.
