We continued to walk on, round various destructed houses till we met one house that looked like a cave the way everythin was neatly piled like a den. We decided to climb through the entrance oh the strange new building. I still felt rough and it was getting late now, we crawled under the large sturdy table just incase. "So whats the plan?" He asked me.
"You think I have a plan?" I ask and he shrugged "Actually I do!" I laugh a little, trying to make the most of moral. "We need to find Ares, or Eddie as he liked to be called. He'll know what to do but he escaped the S.O.U.L's so now we have to try and find him. I don't know how though." I say sighing. We agreed to sleep here after eating some beans that had been kept almost intact under some roof tiles.
We settled down under the table, in our little den. He held me to his chest and whispered in my ear. "I'm really glad I found you, Lola. I don't know what I'd do without you..." he went on to whisper and then tightened his grip, I was basically pressed against all his muscle, it wasn't bad at all. I kept my head on his shoulder and he kept a firm grip on me as I drifted off to sleep. Vowing he wouldn't let anyone near me.
Chadwicks POV
I hadn't the heart to tell her. To tell her I probably wouldn't make it, this power would drain me dry even if I didn't use it. I remembered the evil mans teeth, baring into me with a vicious smile that raked my nightmares.
"You won't live long, Boy. You're just a lab rat!" He spat, emphisising the rat.
That was what I remembered, they let me go not realising I was going to be useful. I didn't think I'd imagiane these things whilst holding the love of my life. My new girlfriend. Lola May. All the sorrow of her name didn't describe how much I needed and loved her. She'd said she'd had a crush on me, apparently they all did. I didn't like being popular though, everyone knew all your secrets.
I hold her to my chest. I know it seems pedoish but I listen to her breathing, slow and sweet, and watch her sleep, keeping an ear out for noise and an eye out for movement.
I hear a rustle.
"Lola....Lola...pssst!" I whisper, stroking her cheek and her eyes flutter open looking up at me and she nods. "Something's here..." I tell her.
Lola's POV
Something was definately there. I draw out a small blade from my shoe that I had found on the beach and keep a firm grasp on it in my hand. A bead of sweat drawing from my head. I was terrified. I was so close to Chad as he squeezed me tight I could feel the pounding of a nervous heart beat. Mine beating along side it just as fast.
Two eyes appeared in the emptiness and I almost screamed. This wasn't true, it wasn't happening. I wasn't going to die and there were NOT any eyes watching me. It's just an illusion, I whisper to myself and keep thinking it over. Then a whisp of hair covers the eyes and I dig my head into the side of Chads neck. He cradles my head with his hand, his arm still wrapped round my waist.
"Who's there!" He shouted in an intimidating voice, sitting up and holding me close, sitting me on his lap. I open one eye, giving Chad the small dagger type thing. He was much stronger and braver than I was. A small head emerges the shadows. He had dark skin, a dirty face, cuts covering his face like a tribal mask with all the mud that build up on his skin. Chad repeates the demand for an answer. The boy holds his hands up.
"I-I..." He drops to the floor. A weak young boy.
A few hours later the boy wakes up. His huge eyes scared to death. I held his head in my lap, examining his face. I felt like a doctor, which was what my dad had been for a while. He had dark skin and curly black hair. His eyes where greatful, scared and questioning at the same time. His clothes were merely a white ripped top and some loose shorts.
"What's your name?" I ask in a soft nursing voice.
"D-Dwain..." He manages still looking up at me. I ask him his age and he holds up nine fingers. I felt really bad for him. Chad was sitting behind me, watching him over my shoulder with his arms round my waist. He was litterally very clingy. But I didn't mind it. It was almost coupleish the way he constantly hugged me from behind.
That night we decided Dwain would stay with us. We would act as good parents as we could to him and he would tell us what he knew about surving and the S.O.U.L
When light broke through the various little holes in the jumble of stuff that made the nest of a roof we climbed out into the open. Something had happened. There was water everywhere. About an inch atleast. Fish flopping around. My lonely tide had swept in further than before.
What had happened? We continued on before asking questions. It seemed the freak weather was getting worse. Chad carried Dwain on his back and help my hand in his as we walked onwards. Hopefully we wouldn't have to over come too many obsticals. I was too tired and weak. I felt like sleeping forever. If I could.
