The bell rang to signal the end of the school day. After gathering their things, Marinette and Adrien walked hand-in-hand to the courtyard.
Stopping at the main door, the couple shared a quick kiss. After pulling back, Adrien smiled at her. "You're still coming over today, right?"
"Of course," Marinette replied with her own smile. "Nothing could keep me away."
He squeezed her hand. "Let's go, Princess," he said, starting to guide her outside.
She held him back and glanced around the courtyard. Then she waved over the person she was looking for. "Felix!"
After excusing himself from the group he was talking to, he hurried over. "Hey, Marinette."
"Hey. Are you ready to go?"
"Oh, I'm actually going to the museum with Zoe today," Felix replied. "She still wants to see that exhibit."
Marinette's eyes blew wide open. "You're going to the museum... with Zoe?"
"Yeah," Felix smiled. "She's a pretty cool girl, and I like hanging out with her. We actually have a lot in common."
"Wow," Marinette deadpanned, a frown crossing her face. "You two have a lot in common? Who would have figured?"
And both Adrien and Felix laughed.
After a second her frown transformed into a coy smile. "So, is this like a date or something?"
"No," Felix said, still laughing a little.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. We're just friends. Besides, I overheard her gushing to Mylène about some new superhero, and it seems like she's got it pretty bad for him."
Marinette could only blink in response.
Adrien also could only blink in response.
So Felix continued with a devious smirk. "Well, I have to get going. Will I see you at dinner?"
"Yeah, I'll be there."
"Great."
Then Felix and Marinette spent an entire thirty seconds doing an outrageously elaborate handshake that they had developed over the past month.
Adrien frowned as he watched them. He wasn't super happy about the two of them suddenly being best friends. But, he reasoned, that was the better alternative than Felix being in love with her and trying to steal her away. It sure seemed like Vesperia had taken over as his new romantic pursuit. And surprisingly, now Zoe seemed to be in the running too.
"Okay," Marinette chuckled as they finished up. "I'll see you later." Then she turned to Adrien after Felix walked away.
He grabbed her hand and they started toward the waiting car. "Do you really think that Zoe is in love with Argos?" he whispered, leaning in close. "I thought that she was into girls."
"I think maybe she's pan," Marinette whispered back.
As they climbed into the car, he thought about it. "I guess that makes sense," he finally said.
Then they spent the car ride whispering and giggling back and forth to each other all the way to the Agreste mansion. After climbing out, Adrien pulled Marinette up the stairs and inside to the foyer.
He stopped short and had a moment of panic, however, when he saw someone unexpected inside. You know what they say, old habits die hard.
Gabriel glanced over at the couple after they walked in, and then turned back to Amelie to finish the conversation. But she instantly left him behind to greet them.
