I stood next to Carbon on the path just outside the healer's house. "I need to go to the library, do you want to come with me?" I looked over to Carbon. "Sure, I need to do some research anyway." "Alright, let's go." I followed Carbon through the town. There were a lot more pokemon out now. We were walking through what appeared to be the center of town, when I was tackled and pinned to the ground. The face of a Mightyena loomed over me. "What do you think you're doing? You don't belong here!" I growled. "Get off of me." A claw lightly brushed my throat. "Leave." I stared at him. "Make me." I threw him off me and slashed his side with shadow claw. The Mightyena let out a yelp and ran off. "Wow... he scares easily." I laughed and turned to Carbon. "Hey, are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's keep going." "Alright." We continued to the library, and soon arrived. Carbon opened the door, and we walked inside. It was a nice-looking building, though it was fairly small compared to most of the others, as it was only a bit bigger than a normal house. "Meet back here when we're done?" "Sure" Carbon walked off somewhere, and I walked over to what appeared to be the history section. I looked through the books that were there, and none of them seemed too interesting, but one of them caught my eye. 'Eeveelution War... what's that?' I pulled the book off of the shelf and walked over to a reading area. I laid down and began reading. 'So, there's different eeveelution kingdoms? How did I not know about this before? Let's see... Hold on, the Jolteons started the war...?' I looked up for a second, then went back to reading. 'The Jolteons attacked the Vaporeons after a deal for land went wrong... seems like it was the Jolteons and Umbreons against everyone else, and the Umbreons eventually sided with the others... wait hold on, they- they did what?! Together they wiped out the Jolteons.... And outlawed thunder stones... then completely cut off the supply of thunder stones... how long ago was this war? 250 years ago... I need to tell Carbon about this.'
I closed the book and went looking for Carbon. He was lying in a different reading area, reading a book about geology. I walked over to him and tapped him on the back. He flinched, then looked at me. "We need to talk." I whispered. He looked at the book I was holding, then back at me. "Alright" He whispered. He closed the book, and we walked over to a corner where nobody was. "What'd you find out?" I turned to him. "There was a war between the eeveelution kingdoms around 250 years ago, and they completely wiped out the Jolteons. They also outlawed thunder stones, and completely cut off the supply." Carbon stood there, processing what I'd just told him. "Oh... now everything makes a bit more sense... that's a bit messed up though." I nodded. "Are you gonna try and do something about it?" "Actually, I'm planning on locating these kingdoms, and hopefully I can make my way up there. I don't have a plan on what to do about it just yet, however, I'll have time to make a plan on the way." We locked eyes for a second, then Carbon spoke. "Can I come with you...?" I stared at him. "Uh... yeah. But are you sure that you want to?" "I'm sure. I don't have anything else that I can do, and I'd like to help you out if I can. You practically saved my life." I glanced at the bandages on his torso. "Well, if you're sure you want to, you can come with." "Yay!" "Shhh, we're still in a library." "Oh, right." I pulled out a map from my bag. I examined it and found a place that seemed to match the description of the Glaceon kingdom. I pointed to it. "That's where we're going." Carbon glanced at the map. "Really? That's actually not too far away, I was expecting it to be further away." "Yeah, same here." I folded the map up and put it back in my bag. "Well, are you ready to go?" Carbon put a paw on my left shoulder. "Ready when you are." I smiled, and we nodded to each other. We turned, and walked out of the library, and back onto the town path. 'And so, our adventure begins... Haha.'
