Miyabi Kurosawa POV
October 18, 2008

School was back again after our short vacation 2 months ago. Events and projects started picking up at school. In turn, it made me and Ai busy but it was something we've yet to experience, so we decided to simply live in those moments.

School events were lined up one after the other when we got back. At first, we found it as a chore to do. But slowly over a bit of time, we managed to gain new experiences, had no luck in the friends department though.

Most of those who tried to befriend me was planning on using me to get close to Ai. If they don't have the guts to actually approach her themselves, consider the chances of us being friends as null. There were also girls who tried the same with Ai, hiding under the pretense of friendship was the desire to get close to me.

Me and Ai might come off as 'antisocial' to them. We prefer referring to ourselves as simply good judges of character. We'd rather not have 'friends' in this place, but we didn't have any other choice.

We both decided to simply lie and hone our lies to satisfy them. Both of us would lie to them so that they'll leave us alone when they get overbearing. We lie and accept their pretenses of friendship, so that we have some means to survive socially.

School can be very harsh and dangerous after all. When you get deemed as an outcast, you're practically fresh meat to bullies. Instead of suffering through all of that hassle, we'd both rather lie even though we both don't want to.

Anyways, Ai and I both found some semblance of joy in the events that has come to pass in school. Ai tried out on the talent show with some other girls and joined as a group. They wanted to try out performing an idol routine for the show.

Ai took it very seriously, practicing almost day and night. For weeks on end, her free time was eaten up by practice. Well, in the end, it paid off.

At the day of their performance, I saw it. The same sight I see in my dreams of the future. The way she moved, danced, smiled, and sang, it was all there.

Her performance actually carried their group to win the whole show. Her bright charisma and captivating smile simply took away everyone's breath. Even myself couldn't look away and just simply stood there watching.

Her smiles on stage actually felt real even though it could've been a facade for the crowd. But, there were also hints of genuine feelings of happiness behind it too. The moment they were announced to be the winners of the event, she was ecstatic.

After their performance, she told me that she thinks she found something she might be genuinely interested in. I smiled at her words and offered words of support if she ever decided to pursue it. I could never even think about holding her back.

For me, well, I've been mostly participating in debates, quiz bees, and I was also nominated to be the class representative for the pageant. The pageant got my interest so I decided to try it out. I was mostly the one in charge with picking out my wardrobe for the various categories and I had Ai's support in the form of being in charge of the makeup.

On stage, I felt like a different person. I embodied very theme chosen for the event. The clothing theme was old fashioned and classic feel. It was by coincidence that I absolutely adored old school fashion tastes, so I simply showed off my favorite pieces on my wardrobe.

We were allowed to pick 3 outfits. So I decided on ones that would give a certain feeling. One that gives someone the sense of trustworthy person, an intimidating person, and a stoic person.
