Drowning

14 1 1

water lapping at the rocks

crashing into the sides of the lighthouse

the sun is disappearing

over the horizon,

darkness

overwhelming darkness

why should I fight

what reason have i to live

I've given up

Cold

I hit the water

sinking deeper and deeper

this isn't so bad

death is welcoming

Burning

chest is on fire

it hurts so much

the air in my lungs

has caught fire

water

is filling my lungs

panicking, thrashing in the blackness

trying to reach the surface

I've changed my mind

Fight

moonlight reflecting in ripples

the surface is so close

a few more feet

I want to live

Life

hands reaching upwards

breaking through

cool air blowing

i'll be fine
