Small Talk

One day in the sunny beaches of Mobius, Tony the Hedgehog was taking a stroll. He looked around, the Mobians hanging around on the beach. He noticed amongst them was his friends. The triplets, mainly. Sara, Scarlet and Sora were sitting in the sand building a sandcastle. Or, at least, Sara and Scarlet were building it, while Sora slept in the shade.

While Tony was walking, Scarlet noticed Tony walking by. "Oh, hi Tony!" she called, waving to him. Tony walked over to them, sitting next to her. "Hey Scarlet." he replied, making himself comfortable next to her. "What are you up to?" she asked.

"Not much," he said, "just walking around South Island." He sighed, relieved that the day wouldn't be as boring now that he's with his friends. "Well," Sara said, "it's nice seeing you, Tony." He smiled, glad to be with them.

"Hey Scarlet, how would you like to join me for a walk?" Tony asked, getting up. Scarlet blushed when he asked, but smiled and replied, "Sure, why not?" Tony held out his hand and helped her up. "Thanks." she said, smiling at him.

"I'll keep an eye on Sora while you two are on your walk." Sara said, as she put Sora's head on her lap. Scarlet nodded, and the two red hedgehogs went off on their walk.

While on their walk, Tony began to talk to Scarlet about her life. "So, how's life going for ya?" he asked her. She shrugged, and replied, "Kinda the same, just looking out of both Sara and Sora, not much else that important."

Tony sighed quietly, but smiled. "Well if you need any help with that, I'm the hedgehog to call!" he said, smirking. Scarlet snorted and covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. "Don't try making me laugh, Tony." she told him, "But, okay, I'll keep that in mind."

Tony thought about the "making her laugh" part for a bit. "I'm serious about that though...," she said, crossing her arms. A few miles of walking later, they found a spot to relax for a bit.

While they were relaxing, Tony noticed something with Scarlet. She was messing with a ring she had without noticing what she was doing. "What's that?" Tony asked, getting a little curious. Scarlet was a bit confused, until she realized what he meant. "Oh, um... it's my dad's." she said, a little upset when mentioning it.

"How did you get it?" Tony asked, wanting to know more. Scarlet looked away, feeling more upset. "I don't want to talk about it..." she told him.

That's when Tony thought that she may have received it under bad circumstances. He slowly wrapped his arms around Scarlet, holding her in a soft and comforting hug. Scarlet looked up at him in confusion.

"Whatever happened back then, know that I'll always be here for you. I promise." he told her. Scarlet smiled, appreciating his kindness. "Thanks..., I got the ring from my dad before he died..., it's the last thing I have of him." she told him.

Tony tightened the hug, giving more comfort to her. Scarlet smiled again, and hugged back, feeling much better now. Tony and Scarlet stayed in the hug for a few minutes. "Thanks Tony...," she said, holding onto him, "I needed that..."

She tightened the hug, showing him that she really cared, before letting go of him. I'm gonna head back over to my sisters now." she told him, before getting up and getting ready to leave.

Tony quickly got up. "I'll go with you." she told her, holding her hand. "You don't need to come with me, Tony." she told him, as she pulled her hand back after getting up. "Okay...," Tony said, "l'm just looking after you, because you're my friend."

Scarlet shook her head and sighed a bit before going back to where Sara and Sora were. "Hi sis!" Sara called to Scarlet, smiling. "Wait, where's Tony?" she asked.

"Huh?" Scarlet just noticed Tony wasn't next to her. Then, she realized why. "I told him he didn't need to come with me." she told her sister. "He was just trying to be nice." Sara told her. "I know..." Scarlet sighed, as she sat back down.

Meanwhile, Tony was walking back home, when a hand clasped his throat and slammed him against a tree. "What do you think you're doing, idiot?" Shadow asked, his grip tightening.

"I was just spending time with my friends!" he admitted. "That's no reason to act like a complete asshole and assault me out of nowhere!"

"You lie, Tony." Shadow said, letting go of him. "You were obviously flirting with someone I already have my eyes on." He crossed his arms aggressively.

"Scarlet?" Tony answered. "Me and her are just friends, jerk!" Shadow growled and got closer. "And if it's any more than that, you and I will have a big problem." Tony held onto his neck, trying to feel around for any damage.

Shadow began to walk away, but stopped in his tracks. "And one more thing; consider this your warning." Shadow threw a fist towards Tony's face, causing him to black out.
