"LONNIE!" A voice screamed out, burdened with fatigue.
A ball was kicked from one side to
the complete opposite. It's trajectory was slightly off, but that was perfect for the intended teammate: The longer limbed 190cm Midfielder, Lonnie Aoi.
The midfielder ran through a growing cluster of opponents and leaped into the air, sticking out his chest to receive the ball and before Lonnie's feet touched the ground, he began to scope. That is, until he finally saw it: An opening. Lonnie pushed forwards in his pitch black uniform.
Lonnie landed and let the ball fall with him. He dribbled the ball towards the opponent's goal in an extreme focused state. However, the opposite team's defense began to crash in on Lonnie. He looked at all of them and knew he could possibly get around them, however Lonnie's attention became divided when he heard someone call his name,
"Aoi! Im here!" Came from one of Lonnie's teammates. They were open, with only the goalie to worry about. However, Lonnie didn't like who was open, the worst player on their team. It was unlikely.
Lonnie trapped the ball on his left heel and right foot. He slid the ball up the back of his left leg and pushed it up into the air, preforming a rainbow which deviated slightly, but Lonnie liked the placement. He leaped into the air and was rotating backwards. Lonnie's eyes zero'd in on the goal and picked a spot.
With the target locked in, Lonnie, who was upside down in the air, pulled his leg back and swung it forwards, slamming into the ball at an off axis angle. After connecting the shot, Lonnie landed on his stomach but immediately hopped up to his knees, staring at the ball, waiting for the result.
The ball went off but curved back, going in hot for the goal. The goalie had moved accordingly and jumped from the ball. Time felt as if it slowed for Lonnie, watching the ball curve and the goalie jump with it. The goalie's hand extended and just by the tip of his fingers, knocked the powerful ball into the pole, causing the ball to connect with the pole and roll away from it. Then, the final whistle blew, signifying the end of the game.
"The match between Teka High and Okamitsu High has concluded. The score is 2 - 3, Okamitsu High wins the 2018 Spring Championship!" The announcer blurted out over the loud intercom.
Lonnie's eyes filled with despair as he dropped down, sitting on the ground as all of his hopes had escaped his very hands. The coaches had arranged their players in the middle of the field as they shook hands and thanked the other for the match. Afterwards, Lonnie went into the locker room with a towel over his head. He sat there and contemplated every tiny detail of the game that caused them to lose. However the sulking wouldn't last long as 2 other of Lonnie's teammates walked in, with no so friendly looks on their faces.
Lonnie's eyes moved over to the other 2 as one walked in front of Lonnie and the other behind him.
"What the hell was that, Aoi?! I was wide open and you chose to shoot the most difficult shot? Not even Messi could hit that!" The open teammate from before went on a rant about how the smarter choice would've been to pass.
"Okay! Stop talking. I DID make a mistake. That mistake was not aiming more to the right. Now if you got a problem with me then I guess we got a problem." Lonnie exclaimed, saying his words with bass behind to further weigh his words. He stood up and shoved the teammate in front of him only to get grabbed from behind.
Lonnie was then met with multiple gut punches from the first guy. He kicked the one in front of him and broke free from the hold he was in. He turned around and punched the second teammate several times before getting pulled off by the first teammate and throw into the lockers. Lonnie recovered quickly and pushed back the first teammate quickly before resuming his attack on the second. He gave the second teammate one more quick bunch before tackling the first teammate as they got up. Lonnie rained down heavy punches but eventually 2 more teammates of his ran into the locker room and began to jump Lonnie right along the first 2. Lonnie did his best to fight them off, giving everyone at least some sort of damage before he eventually succumbed to the overwhelming force of his pissed off teammates. He was thrown to the floor and was kicked and punched by all 4 of them. Lonnie covered his head and tucked he knees to protect his stomach as he was viciously beaten.
He was beaten for a solid 10 seconds which felt like 10 minutes. After they were done, his teammates walked out of the locker room, leaving Lonnie there to suffer by himself.
After they all left, Lonnie picked himself up and he sat on the floor, with his back up against the lockers so he could recover a bit. After about an hour of sitting in the locker room, Lonnie walked out of the locker room, limping slightly and holding his stomach. He hacked up a bit of blood before hopping on his bike and riding home.
When he did get home, he checked the mailbox to find a mysterious letter, which he waited to open. Instead, he walked into his house to find the kitchen clean like he had left it. He took his shoes off at the door and walked through the house, placing the letter down on the kitchen table.
"I'm home mom!" Lonnie poured himself a cup of water as he waited for her response.
After not getting the response he was waiting for, he took a sip of water and walked out to the living room, finding the living room a mess. There was a couple of used condoms on the coffee table and couch, along with needles and reside of a white powder. A bong was tipped over on the floor and as Lonnie scanned the room more and more, he saw his mother, on the couch and in a robe. He saw wads of cash thrown on her and he almost cried, seeing her like this.
"Mom..?" Lonnie called out one more time. He walked over to her, careful not to step on anything. He placed his fingers on her neck and shifted them around for a little bit. Eventually, Lonnie stood back up and took his phone out.
He opened his phone app and pressed three numbers "1 1 9".
He put the phone up to his ear and waited, letting the phone dial before someone picked up.
"Emergency Hotline, how can we help you?" An almost robotic toned lady spoke.
"Hey. It's Lonnie Aoi. . . Yeah that's me. It's my mom again.. she's dead." Lonnie voice was blank and carried no emotion. He had none left to give.15 minutes later, Lonnie was sitting in the back of an open ambulance, getting treatment to his wounds at the scene as he watched the other EMT's rolling out his mother in a body bag on a gurney. He watched blankly but an officer stepped in his line of sight, blocking Lonnie from the sight of his mother.
"So kid. You got anyone else you can call? Grandparents? Uncles? Aunts?" The officer spoke.
Lonnie looked down at the letter thst he had grabbed from the house before exiting it. He looked down at the symbols on it and sighed, "Yeah. I got it figured out.."The next day, Lonnie was on his front porch, reading the letter. He looked up from the paper and placed it down next to him after finishing it. He sighed deeply before grabbing it again and standing up. He went to the side of the house and grabbed his biding, riding away from his house and to a new destination.
After a not-so-short ride, he arrived at the destination, a large multiple story building by the looks of it. He sighed and took one more look at the letter before placing it back into the envelope and stuffing it into the pocket of his hoodie, walking into the building.
Almost immediately, Lonnie was hit with a sense of unease as he had stumbled into an auditorium where a multitude of other football players had gathered. Lonnie tilted his head slightly but the doors shut behind him and all of the attention was drawn towards the stage as a pale and lengthy man walked on to the stage. He tapped his headset a few times before putting on a grin which could only be describe as horror.
"Hello there... my unpolished diamonds in the rough."
