Milly walked into the school cafeteria and felt a surge of anxiety

Milly walked into the school cafeteria and felt a surge of anxiety. The place was packed with students chatting, laughing, and eating. The noise level was deafening, and the smell of food was overwhelming. Milly had to squeeze her way through the crowd, looking for one of her friends. She hated this part of the day when she had to face the chaos and confusion of the cafeteria.

Luckily for her, Alice swooped in and pulled her outside before someone ran into her. Milly softly thanked her and looked around at the virtually empty courtyard. This place was much nicer to be in. Alice couldn't contain her enthusiasm as she chatted with Milly about the latest trends in fashion. She had always loved dressing up and experimenting with different styles, and she found a kindred spirit in Milly, who shared her passion. They were waiting for Alice's siblings outside of the school cafeteria, but they didn't mind the wait. They had so much to talk about. Alice showed Milly some photos on her phone of the clothes she had bought online, and Milly complimented her choices.

For the second time that day, Emmett flung his arms around Milly's waist and spun her around. She laughed in fright and flailed her legs.

Once she was put down, Jasper swatted the back of his brother's head, no doubt scolding his recklessness.

"Who're they?" Bella asks out of fake general curiosity.

"The Cullens," Angela replied, sounding almost surprised that Bella had never heard about them.

"There are, um, Dr. and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They moved down here from Alaska like a few years ago." Jessica whispered as if she were afraid that they would hear them gossiping.

"They like to keep to themselves. Well, with one exception." Angela said, just as the door opened and in walked the two 'eldest'.

"Yeah, because they're all together, like 'together' together." Lauren judges. "The blonde girl, that's Rosalie, and the big dark-haired guy, that's Emmett. They are like a thing; I'm not even sure that's legal."

"Lauren, they aren't actually related." Angela points this out.

"Yeah, but they live together, and it's weird." She shakes her head and lets Jessica go back to her monologue.

"Anyway, the little dark-haired girl is Alice; she's really weird, and she's with Jasper, the blonde one who looks like he's in pain." Jessica finishes.

"Dr. Cullen is like this foster dad/matchmaker."

"Maybe he'll adopt me." Angela says.

"Who is he?" Bella asked, diverting the table's attention to the last Cullen, who is just now walking through the cafeteria doors.

"That's Edward Cullen. Totally gorgeous, obviously, but apparently, nobody here is good enough for him. Like I care." Jessica says, clearly petty about her previous statement.

Bella stares shamefully at the boy, hiding a smirk behind her hair.

"Wait," she realises, snapping out of the trance she had put herself into. "You said they keep to themselves... with one exception."
