Milly opened her eyes and gasped

Milly opened her eyes and gasped. Her room was a jungle of greenery, with vines and flowers spilling out of every pot and planter. She felt a surge of joy and wonder as she looked around, admiring the shapes and colours of the plants. She jumped out of bed and ran to the window, where a sunflower had grown so tall that it reached the sill. She touched its petals gently and smiled.

She heard a knock on the door and turned to see her dad, Charlie, standing there with a tray of breakfast. He looked stunned by the sight of the plants, but he quickly recovered and smiled warmly at his daughter.

"Good morning, sweetheart. How are you feeling today?" He asked, setting the tray on a table that was covered with ferns.

"I'm feeling great, Dad. Look at all these plants! They're so beautiful!" Milly exclaimed, making her way over to hug him.

"They are indeed. You have quite a green thumb, don't you?" Charlie said, hugging her back.

Milly giggled. "I guess so. I don't know how it happened, though. I just watered them like usual last night, and then this morning they were all like this."

Charlie knew this was coming. As soon as Milly woke up in the hospital, Billy reminded him that soon she would be gaining her abilities. It may not be obvious at first, but at some point she will have to start learning to control them. It was both exciting and worrisome for Charlie to think about Milly developing her powers. He knew that with her newfound abilities, she would have the potential to do great things, but he also feared the potential dangers that might come along with it.

"Dad?" Milly whispers, looking up at him.

"Yeh, Blue?"

"Do you think that this is something we should tell Billy?"

Charlie pauses for a moment. Milly didn't know, but the police chief had been updating Billy a few times that week. He noticed small things, like how the sun would shine through the window directly onto Milly or how her window pets seemed to be bringing their entire family.

"I think that's a good idea, sweetheart. Should we go for a visit?"

"Yes!" she brightens up, leading Charlie out of her room by the hand and saying goodbye to her plants.

Charlie opens the door for his daughter, helping her get out of the car without dropping the plant pot she had brought with her. She had been growing orchid cacti for the black household. She had written up a small card on how to take care of it and added a short list of plants similar to it if they enjoyed looking after it. Charlie smiled proudly as he watched his daughter carefully navigate her way towards the front porch, holding the precious pot with the utmost care.

She was excited that it had already finished blooming, not expecting it to continue for another week. She knew what this was as much as Charlie did. Things were starting to feel real. Milly was attacked by a supernatural creature, and now she is one.

Milly tried to manoeuvre the pot into one arm to knock on the door, smiling brightly as her dad quickly reassured her, ringing the doorbell himself. The door immediately swings open, revealing Jacob Black. Milly's heart skipped a beat as she locked eyes with Jacob, the person she had been longing to see. His warm smile and friendly demeanour put her at ease, erasing any doubts she had about her new supernatural existence.

He ushered them in, and Milly led him to a spot on the window that she had picked out for the plant.

"They're very easy to look after, but I've still left a small list of instructions for you two. Make sure that she doesn't feel lonely; she likes being told about the weather outside."

Jacob laughs, watching as his baby sister turns the pot so that the label with its name is facing out.

"Jolene, huh?" he snickers.

"What?" she says, turning around to him, a smile still plastered on her face. "It's perfect, right?"

"Yeh, yeh." He rolls his eyes playfully, holding onto her and gently leading her to the front door and into the garage.

"Kids," they hear from the kitchen. "Will you come here for a moment?" Billy calls them.

The two look at each other with uncertainty.

What did you do? Milly signs.

Nothing*!*** Jacob replies with a cheeky grin. However, it drops quickly as he starts to reevaluate his answer. Well, nothing recently.

Milly playfully rolls her eyes, leading Jacob to see Billy.

She notices her dad and Billy sitting at the kitchen table. Curiosity piqued, and Milly and Jacob exchanged a puzzled glance before cautiously approaching the kitchen table. As they draw closer, they notice a serious expression on their dad's face, causing a sense of unease to settle in the room.

Billy, feeling slightly hesitant, instructs Jacob to go outside. Jacob, in a playful manner, responds with a cheeky grin and asks Milly what she did. However, after the silence, his answer spawned, and his smile faded as he realised that there might be something worth investigating.

Milly catches Jacob's change in demeanour and furrows her brow, thinking about what this could be regarding. Milly, wanting to reassure Jacob, places a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Jay. I'll be out in a minute."

He looks at her with scepticism but leaves to sit in the garage to wait for her.

Milly takes her seat at the table and looks at her father for help. He winks at her, letting her know that she isn't in trouble.

"Mils," Billy starts, "I think it's time we talk more about the fae."

She smiles at him, her worries seeming to dissolve now that she knows this isn't a stressful conversation. She nods enthusiastically and says, "Did you hear about what happened this morning?"

"Yes, I did hear." He smiles back at her. "It was incredible, Milly," he says, congratulating her.

"Mhm!" her eyes squint as she grins at him. She relaxes her face and looks at him with a wide stare. "Will you show me how I can do it again?"

Billy's heart swells with pride at Milly's eagerness. "Of course, Milly. But remember, this will need patience and lots of practice."

She nods happily. "That sounds incredible!"

Milly skips into the garage, already excited about her first lesson in magic. Her bedroom was going to look spectacular.

"Milly!" she hears a deep voice from the door.

A smile plasters on her face, and she moves as fast as she can towards the company. Embry picks her up in his arms, careful of her back.

Quil comes over and gently steals her away from Embry.

"Quil, put me back!" She screams in delight.

"I'll save you!" Jacob yells, running out from behind the truck they were working on. Quil gently places her on the floor as Jacob runs at him head-on. They mimic fighting bulls as they valiantly battle each other. Milly laughs as Embry helps her onto his back, running around the garage.

Things were looking up for Milly Swan.
