VERONICA'S POV:

The week was going, agonisingly slowly. And it was only Thursday.

I don't think I even have to clarify that Vince has been my every waking thought since I left his apartment on Monday morning.

I hadn't been scheduled to work any weekday this week and Katie hadn't been answering any of my calls. She'd either dropped off the face of the earth, decided she hates me, or is still with Tommy.

So without work or Katie to distract me from my overwhelming boredom and thoughts about Vince. I was going absolutely mad.

I wonder what he was thinking about me, if he was thinking about me.

Why the fuck hasn't he called? I left him my number three days ago.

Actually, why hasn't Nikki called? Katie hasn't even called me either.

Shit... did I do something wrong when I was drunk? Does everybody hate me?

I really have got to stop with this overthinking.

I picked up the phone and dialled Katie's number one last time. Surprisingly after half a ring, the line picked up.

"Tommy!" Katie giggled from the other end of the phone, "I've only just left! You miss me already baby?"

"Sorry... It's not Tommy," I mumbled.

"Oh," she didn't even hide her disappointment, "who's this?"

"Are you kidding?" I giggle in shock.

"Oh, it's you," Katie sighed.

"What the fuck? Did I do something?" I ask, worried but annoyed at her constant lack of interest in me unless she was talking about herself.

"No, why?" She said, like it was obvious.

"Because I haven't seen or heard from anyone since Sunday night?" I replied, like it was obvious.

"Babe you've really gotta stop with all this overthinking shit before you push everyone away, it's getting really boring."

"So where have you been then?"

"Oh, we were all chilling at the boy's apartment."

"All? Right... Thanks for inviting me." I scoffed.

"You're the one that left babe!" She laughed.

She was right but couldn't they have invited me back? I didn't know they were going to be partying all week.

"Didn't Vince or Nikki even ask for me to come back?" Tears welled in my eyes at the thought of losing everybody I know again.

I was starting to really like Vince and to be honest I was pretty devastated to learn they'd been partying without me all week. I left him my number, right beside him underneath the blanket. He could've easily called me if he wanted me there. But it was showing that they obviously didn't want me there.

And Nikki... Nikki was supposed to be my best friend. Even if Vince wasn't actually interested in me, Nikki could've at least called me. I couldn't believe that Nikki didn't even want me there...

What could I have done that was so bad? Or maybe it was just me...

"Yeah they did..." Katie said, sounding bored of the conversation.

What?

"They did ask for me?" I questioned sternly.

"Yeah...?" Katie continued.

"But they didn't call?"

"Yeah, I told them not to." Katie blurted.

"Sorry?" I laughed in disbelief, "You told them not to call me?"

"Yeah, that's what I said."

"Why the fuck would you do that?" I scoffed angrily.

"I just don't think it's good for you babe... You were sooooo heartbroken when you got here, you don't need another man!" Katie chimed.

"Are you taking the fucking piss?" I laughed angrily.

"Oh wow!" Katie laughed back, "So now I'm the bad guy! For looking out for you?"

"You really think you're looking out for me? It's my fucking life! I decide what's good for me! They're my fucking friends!" I yelled, furious that Katie was attempting to dictate my life.

Silence.

"What did you say to Vince?" I continued.

"That you weren't interested," she said.

"Fuck you Katie, fuck you! You know for a fact that's not fucking true."

"I know, but like I said, he's not good for you."

"What did he say?" I asked, worried he'd believe her.

"Not much, haven't seen him since I told him..."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, they tried invited you back on Monday afternoon. Told Vince you weren't interested, then he walked out the apartment with Nikki's car keys. Haven't seen him since," Katie said coldly.

What is it with me and so called best friends?

Speaking of so called best friends...

"And Nikki? What did he say?" I persist.

"Ugh Veronica! Get over it babe, why do you even care?"

"Answer me Katie, Nikki's meant to be my best friend."

"Oh that's real nice, what about me?" She scoffed.

"You think what you've just done is what a real best friend would do? Really?" I ask.

"Well yeah? I'm doing what's best for you..." She said boldly.

"No! You're fucking crazy!" I scream, "You're doing what you think is best for me! It's my fucking choice, not yours!"

"Well Nikki is so fucked on whatever he's been taking all week, he only asked about you once. He hasn't been out of his bedroom since Monday afternoon."

"What do you fucking mean? Is he okay?" Suddenly concerned.

"I don't know, probably?" She mumbled.

"Probably??"

"He took a lot of shit Ronni, who cares! The man's a rockstar!"

Her voice was distant and I could tell she'd put the phone down on the side and went off to do something else.

I slammed the phone into the receiver and threw myself up off the sofa. I was feeling rage almost like I'd felt rage the night I left home.

Katie was the biggest fucking bitch I'd ever met in my life and I genuinely couldn't believe she'd rationalised the way she was acting.

Even if she was doing the right thing, surely she'd think to stop herself and let me choose to handle things myself?

Thoughts flew through my mind as I threw on a pair of distressed denim shorts and a pair of worn out Doc Martens. I grabbed my car keys and flew out of my apartment door and down the stairs to the parking lot.

Oh God, I still had Vince's t shirt on. I'd been sleeping in it ever since Monday night and I hadn't thought to take it off to change into something else before I left my apartment. It wasn't until now that I realised it was the Led Zeppelin shirt he was wearing the second night I ever met him. Fuck it, I'm not turning round for an outfit change now.

I practically dived into my car and didn't even fumble to put a cassette into the stereo in my car to occupy me while I drove.

I turned right out of the parking lot and sped to Nikki, Vince and Tommy's apartment.
