Let's dive right in!Mercy thought about what Hamzat said; 'I know who killed Hakeem.' She tried getting more information from him but he refused to spill. For the first time, Hamzat said No to her and that troubled her. It made so many questions pop into her head; 'Doesn't he love me anymore?’, 'Have I lost my touch?’
She waved such thoughts aside; Hamzat would never get tired of her. Rather, she'd be the first person to walk out of their relationship. Hastening her steps, she walked further into the compound. Unfortunately, she wasn't the only one that was angry. Sighting the landlord, she hid behind a tree. “I don see you oo. You better come out!” He bellowed.
'Oga' Landlord; the loud and boisterous old man that chases everything that wears a skirt! There wasn't a single time he wouldn't make advances at Bisi and she despised him for that. “Good afternoon sir.” Mercy greeted. If it was up to her she would turn invisible to avoid any conversation with him. “Abeg, hold your greeting! Wey my money this girl?” He spat, spit flying out of his mouth.
Mercy had to hold her breath to avoid breathing in the smell of his mouth; he had come too close for her liking. “Oga Landlord, shey we don tell you say we go pay.” She replied. Taking a long look at her, he spat on the ground and used his tattered slippers to step on it. Mercy had to swallow her spit once more, the mere sight of him disgusted her. It took everything in her to throw up.
“No be wetin you and your friends dey tell me since last three months?. I dey vex this afternoon.” He snarled, twisting his mouth in an odd manner. One could mistake him for a constipated dog. “Ehn, calm down naw. Money isn't easy to find oo.” She grumbled, folding her hands. If looks could kill, Mercy would have been six foot under.
“I want my money by the end of this month!” He concluded, taking a step. The anger in Mercy increased, coupled with the hot sun that he made her wait under, she grabbed a hold of his sokoto. “Repeat wetin you talk! Does money grow on the tree?” She scoffed. She had made up her mind to bless him with a slap or two. Next time, he wouldn't have the guts to stop her. Talkless of looking at her in the face.
“Help me oo! Mercy wan rape me! She wan rape me oo!” He wailed. That was the problem with 'Oga' Landlord; he was a huge coward and a pig, all in one. “Iffa slap you, who wan rape you? Do you think anyone would come to your rescue?”She hissed. He was already sweating buckets, if only he had kept to himself, he wouldn't be in this situation. “Na me and you today. You go collect.” She snarled, reaching out for his neck.
“Mercy! Are you okay?” Bisi exclaimed, taking her hands off Oga Landlord. Mercy hissed, pissed that Bisi interrupted her. She was ready to teach him a lesson. “Leave this man for me naw, he thinks money is easy to come by.” Mercy huffed. She knew it would be pointless to pick a fight with Bisi; she would beat her to a pulp. “Oga Landlord dey go where you dey go.” Bisi offered. He wasted no time and ran for his dear life.

“Mercy, we have better things to do than to argue with Oga Landlord ehn.” Bisi muttered, closing the door to the apartment. “Abeg, that man thinks he can walk over us like that. Ada no dey?” She queried, throwing herself face flat on the bed; she'd had an eventful day. “No, she comot. Like I said earlier, we can't find the bag.” Bisi sighed, crossing her arms. Where could the bag be? It couldn't have possibly grown legs?“Then the bag has to be with the police, that's the only logical thing.” Mercy concluded; she had a lot on her plate and the bag was far from it. “They haven't called us in for questioning.” Bisi pondered. “Well, we just have to wait. If they don't call us by tomorrow then someone else took the bag.” Mercy concluded. She was already tired of hearing the same issue besides she had unfinished business with Ada.
“I'm just worried Mercy, what if it's in the hands of the wrong person?” Bisi mumbled, pinching the bridge of her nose; it seemed she was the only person concerned about the bag, I wonder why? “I've had a long day and I'm tired. I want to sleep.” Mercy sighed, occupying her space on the bed. “What did your mother say sef?” Bisi pried. At the mention of her mother, Mercy stiffened. “It was nothing, just some minor issues.” She murmured.
“I'm going for a stroll, I need to clear my head. Abeg, come lock door.” Bisi said, taking out her wallet from the wardrobe. She looked inside her wallet; it was only five hundred naira, hopefully that would see her through her journey. “Ooooh na now I wan sleep you wan comot.” Mercy grumbled, standing up from the bed. “Abeg, close the door jare. See you later!” Bisi laughed, shutting the door.
Few seconds later, a beep came from her phone. She checked and it was a message notification…
It read, “Your brother has till the end of the month before I waste him.”
