Chapter Seven

Jiang Cheng's POV

"How-" I'm about to ask but Lan Wangji just goes to his brother with Wei Wuxian unconscious in his arms.

"Brother... please continue searching for Su She." He says before looking at me. "Young Master Jiang and I will take Wei Wuxian to an Inn just to make sure he's okay." 

Lan Xichen and I both don't say anything. He's acting weird. This had never happened before. I gaze over at Xichen and he's at a loss of words. I highly doubt he has seen his brother concern himself with someone else.

"Brother?"

"Uh, Y-yeah sure. I will join you after I find Su She." Xichen replies and we head back to town. After booking a room I manage to get the water out of A-Xian. Lan Wangji sits on the side playing his Guqin filling the room with a soft melody.

"You came back too didn't you..." I say unable to hold back. I have been observing him for a while but I want to confirm it now. I want to know if he too travelled back in time. 

The music stops and he looks over at Wei Wuxian. He still hasn't woken up.

"Wei Ying has a golden core but still has resentment in him." My eyes widen.

"I wasn't sure at first but Wei Ying felt different from when he first entered Cloud Recess." He looks at me and motions me to sit beside him. "I saw it in his eyes and later when he waited on the roof. The lecture with Shufu was also different since I didn't say anything. Wei Ying didn't do a whole month of punishment because I didn't wish to see him before knowing it was really the Wei Ying I knew. You could say that I was afraid."

This is probably the first time I've seen him speak so many words. Don't blame me if I thought he had a word limit each day which he had to stick to. 

"The weird smoke sucked you in too?" I question and he nods. 

"Resentment..."

"I know." taking a deep breath I relax. "The resentment is co-existing along with the golden core in his body. He has been hiding it as he doesn't want anyone to know. He... he doesn't wanna mess this second chance up." 

Lan Wangji nods.

"We have to stop the major and the minor events from taking place if we want to save him," I say breaking the silence. "I don't want him to be alone this time if everyone does come to know he has resentment in him... and as much as I don't want to we have to work together to protect him."

He nods again and I let out a big sigh. We don't have much in common but when it comes to Ying, I can positively say that we are on the same page.

After some time, I was about to get up and get some food when I heard movement coming from where Wei Wuxian was. "Wei Ying!" Lan Wangji gets up and approaches him before I can even say anything.

"ChengCheng my head-" he tries to whine but ends up coughing.

"Relax, idiot I was going to get food..." I walk towards them and see he has his eyes still closed.

"Why do you smell like Lan Zhan?" he questions and I scrunch my face showing disgust. 

"Maybe try opening your eyes and seeing for yourself." His eyes open and his whole body freezes. 

"La-" he starts to say but is interrupted by Lan Wangji who puts his finger on his lips."Shh don't say anything right now," he says and both of them get lost staring at each other in the love that they have...

Ew disgusting...

Leaving the two I head downstairs and take my sweet time because I don't want to end up being the third wheel while they flirt or whatever. *sigh* I don't get paid enough for this shit. But then again I don't get paid at all. I groan making the person walking past me look at me but I just roll my eyes.

Oh, my sorry life. Oh great heavens why must you do this to me? All I ever asked for was a peaceful life. When I asked for a friend I didn't mean that dipshit. Will I get peace in this second chance? Probably not! But do I have a chance? Maybe? Ugh! I should have been born a rock...

...

...

Anyways where was I? Oh yes, the food. When I get downstairs the restaurant is filled with cultivators and normal people. After ordering food and some liquor I was about to head upstairs but stopped.

"Welcome Young Master Lan will you be staying here tonight?" The Innkeeper asked. Lan Xichen gave a warm smile and told the keeper to get the rooms ready. 

"Ah, Young Master Jiang how is young Master Wei now? Is he alright?" his face radiated positive energy and I wish I could have the energy to do the same.

"Yes Young Master Lan, your brother is currently with him and even if he's not alright he won't stay in bed for long." Lan Xichen laughs and we head upstairs together.

As we get closer to the room Wei Wuxian was in we started to hear a calm song. When we enter we see both Wei Wuxian playing Chengqing and Lan Wangji his Guqin. As we stand there none of us move or try to make our presence known. The melody they played was very familiar to me but not so much to Lan Xichen. Soon it comes to an end and I smile when Ying opens his eyes and looks at me.

"Wow Wangji and Young Master Wei that was beautiful," Xichen says as he sits himself down next to his brother. 

"Brother..."

"Ah yes..." Lan Xichen takes a deep breath. "Well the good news is that the Waterbourne Abyss is no longer in Biling Lake which is a relief as the townspeople will no longer be troubled... however... after looking for a long time... we were unable to find Su She..." My gaze instantly goes to Wei Wuxian who has a slight smirk on his face. 

"Well, that is quite sad I really wanted to know him better..." Wei Wuxian says but the expression he is showing is definitely fake.

"*sigh* he may have made a few mistakes but he was a great disci-" Lan Xichen isn't able to continue as he is shocked when Lan Wangji scoffs. "W-Wangji what-" "I would not say the same about him brother... he may have been great in your eyes but for me, he did not deserve to be called a Lan at all..." 

I personally agree for once!

After that, no one really talks about Su Shit and we have our dinner as it was already late. Lan Xichen goes to his room while the rest of us stick around. I got myself a separate room for obvious reasons. 

"Wei Wuxian what did you do to Su She?" I ask curious.

"Oh Chengcheng I sent him away with the Waterbourne Abyss though I feel sorry for the Abyss as it has to taste that oh-so-great cultivator" he rolls his eyes and then walks towards Wangji sitting in his lap. Lan Wangji doesn't protest, why would he, and wraps his arms around him.

"Ok well goodnight... I'll be going now..." I turn to leave but remember something.

"Oh and keep it down..." I don't look back and pray to get a peaceful night.

I hope you are enjoying the story so far... I am sure you've noticed by now that the story is more from Jiang Cheng's POV. I'm thinking of continuing to make it from his POV  mostly but other's POV will still be there. Also, this is a slow update story but I  will try to update it whenever I can.
