I sat and observed the two forms of Sam and Bucky standing in front of the dais, Steve seated next to me within a small knowing smile. Neither man looked like they had known what to expect. Sam especially, Bucky had been here before though.

"So...you decided to join us". I stated.

"Didn't take much convincing, but I also wanted to thank you for sparing me before. Steve has told us everything - and if I'm honest? I knew the plan with Johaan was going to be dangerous. Joseph just had no idea what he was doing when he decided it - he still doesn't".

"He's got even more cause to now that Mom's probably told him about Hale and me". Steve said, one hand resting on my thigh protectively. "They'll still march, she was pissed..."

Sam smirked. "I mean you gave up everything, and for her". He jerked his chin to me with a smile. "They come for you? For all of us? I'm gonna keep on going until I'm struck down".

Arion snorted. "In battle? You'd last five minutes amongst our army and Wakanda's. We're built different to mortals. You'd be better off getting a front row seat in the tower with Erskine".

"We don't care, we wanna fight. You forgot we came here and turned out backs on the place we called home. Because it's not anymore. This is. We want to fight for it just as much as you guys". Bucky declared.

Even if they did then they would need to take the tonics that would make them immune to any siren call, and with the city on guard - Erskine hadn't been able to get out to get the ingredients to make any. There was no way I'd let him out now that we would just have to wait for any news of Auburndale and Johaan. It was too risky.

Arion looked to me. "They're mortals, they won't be up to our standards and I don't even think I could train them to be with unknown time".

"So make us like you". Sam now said, the seriousness on his face telling us that he wasn't joking.

I shook my head slowly. "You do not understand what you are asking..."

"I think we do". Bucky crossed his arms. "You want us to survive and fight to your strength and standards, then we don't see how there's any other way".

I felt myself grow irritated and could feel Steve watching me. "You are asking to die, and even then the water may not grant you what she has to others. She could simply take your souls and be done with it".

Bucky shrugged. "So talk to her - I'm guessing you have some kind of communication with it. Tell her the cause and see whether she'll allow it. If not? We die like the poor unfortunate mortals that we are".

I looked to Steve who then looked at his friends. "You need to think about it". He told them. "You do that and you'll be as you are now - forever, or at least until you're killed".

"It might not be so bad". Sam smirked and sighed. "But anything's possible right? We need to have a good shot at winning this, and with Bucky and me all siren'd up? We stand more of a chance than we would fighting as mortals".

I thought about it and then spoke. "I will speak to her. But I make no promises".

"Good, we don't need 'em - we need strength in numbers". Then looking to Steve. "Til the end of the line".

I called for a couple of servants to take the pair to their rooms and sank further down into my throne. "They do not understand what they ask - it is a great cost that they may regret". My face was a little worried now, "Do you...feel the same? Would you want to change?"

"No". He said firmly. "I fight as I am, showing my parents exactly who I am. I don't want to have to change to show them just what I am fighting for". He knew I would let him if he wanted to, but at the same time also knew I'd rather it not come to that. "I fight for you, for both of us and the future that we and everyone else have here".

Silently standing, I extended my hand for him to take - which he did, rising from his own chair. "And we will have that future". I promised him. "If we go? Then we go together".

"We can't afford to think like that" He planted a kiss on my brow.

"No, but if it comes to it? We can only promise one another that. I live by your side as your wife and I shall do the same in death".

The warmth of his body embraced me and I closed my eyes to savour those kind of moments we had together. "And so will I". Releasing me he leant into my ear. "But I have missed my wife and have been craving the taste of her..."

"Then perhaps you should quench your thirst". I grinned and walked to the staircase, hearing him follow before he scooped me up and carried me to the bedroom. He tasted me everywhere, and anywhere - from the bed to the breakfast table, right to the bath, we wasted no time in catching up on the days that we had spent apart, and even as we laid together hours later - I still wanted more.

The yearning for him never left.

"Give me ten minutes". He groaned as I kissed all over him again, going from his chest down to his cock where I lingered for a moment to tease, and then moved back up him. "Perhaps half an hour at a stretch...us mortals don't have as much stamina".

"Perks of being a siren". I chuckled and lay on him, fingers tracing over his skin.

He leant up slightly and planted a kiss on my lips. "Just don't tell that to Sam and Buck. That'll be the clincher for wanting to turn".

"If the battle doesn't kill them, then vigorous sex with a siren mate might".

He laughed and shook his head. "I gotta admit I think I've died at least three times over tonight".

"Then a fourth won't hurt". I nibbled along his bottom lip before I rolled off and settled down against him.

"Believe me if I could just spend the rest of my days fucking you into this mattress then I would. But instead the ones where we're not at war or have the threat of it? I'll do exactly that".

It would truly piss his parents off if we were to have the very thing Sarah was so afraid of.

A half Siren, half mortal heir.

I wondered if it would scare him though, considering he had lost his wife and child. Would he be afraid that it would happen again? I didn't even know if it was possible for us to even have a child, considering what I was. Since, we'd built our home here - pure siren conceptions had increased which meant we were growing once more.

Perhaps Erskine would know, but right now I needed to focus on what was yet to come.

War.
