I don't believe that there are many perfect things in this universe. I think most people, things, and phenomena have imperfections and room for improvement. In my humble opinion, there isn't much that could be deemed as perfect- in fact more accurately, nothing can be.
But Sunday and the family we have shaped together might just be the closest damn thing.
Sitting on my chair while the party of my wedding swirls around me, I can't help but feel anything other than blissful serenity from the day.
There is this sense of calming that rests under my skin while still somehow tingling with excitement and prospect for our future.
My attention has almost solely been on Sunny for the last hour or so, watching as she mingles with the guests that she hasn't seen for a while. Recently, she has been sitting on a random chair with three of her school friends which she hasn't seen in a year or two.
The four of them are giving off the loudest laughs. One of them, called Sal, turns towards Rory who is running over to Sunny with a cheeky grin. After hearing Rory out, Sunny is lifting herself to her feet with another dark-haired girl's help before shuffling towards the table with the wedding cake I baked last night ready for today.
Rory waits patiently beside her mumma as Sunny takes the knife and cuts another slice of cake from the top tier that is smothered in frosting before placing it neatly on a plate for Roo. Bending down as best as she can kiss the tip of Rory's nose before ushering her off to eat the slice of cake with her twin sister.
I watch so meticulously as she scuttles off along the grass with a skip in her step towards where Nola is waving her hand to beckon her closer. A small smile lingers on my lips as the two of them share out the slice of cake between one another.
"Hey husband," Sun's gentle voice sounds in my ear while her hands wind around my shoulders and her supple lips start to pepper kisses against my left cheek.
I hadn't noticed that Sunny had left my view and snuck up behind me until my body jerks with a small startle.
"Feels weird to hear you call me that,"
"A good weird?" She grins, rounding the chair and plopping herself down on my lap when I move my hands for her.
"Amazing weird," I confirm. "It's got a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
She smiles, leaning her head against my shoulder as we look out across the small gathering of guests lining the backyard where the party was taking place. Sitting in silence, I run my hand up and down the length of her arm while Sunny relaxes against me with her hand running over her bump.
"Are you okay?"
I hum, grinning as I turn my head to the side slightly to meet her lips in a tender kiss.
