As you sit tonight to rest,
And you try to assure yourself that you've done your best.
Through every trial, and error, and test
Please remind yourself of the peace from
So ever long ago.The day begins, you swing your legs
O'er the bed and yet your eyes still beg,
For you to rest, and for you to know that peace from
so ever long agoYou brush your teeth, start your drive
Add your effort to the hive.
You begin to think of all the things,
That to you hope bring,
That reminds you of life from
So ever long ago.To school
Or work
Or play
You think of the life
For which you used to pray.
And you begin to think,
"Are these the things
For which I bring myself to the brink
All for the glow of a life
From so ever long ago."Noon turns to eve,
And you begin to believe
That perhaps the past
Is where your life is to last
For there is no peace no
That brings you close
To the life
From so ever long ago.Dinner is set
All of your steam has been blown
And even with them
By your side
You've never felt more alone.
You think
"This isn't right.
They said that this,
This is the reason why I fight.
Then why do I still
Look to the sky,
Envy the birds
Who unlike me
Can take flight.
And visit the land that I once had known
Of lights and colors
Of kites once flown.
And who see the world and all it has to give
And ask no more
Because they like the fish
Are in the flow
Of the knowledge of a world
From so ever long ago."Your head hits the pillow
And now you begin to recite
All of the times on you will have to say "hello"
And "goodbye"
For some, you will see them tomorrow
And begin again, all the pleasures that now seem hollow.
But for some
You, together, will never again see the sun.
Only in your dreams
If you can call them such
Can you catch the gleams,
Of a life together, forgotten.
And as you mind gets it's rest,
It puts your emotions to the test.
As it forces you to relive the time
Where "goodbye"
Would never be forever.
But your eyes break once more,
To reality knocking on your door.
And you want to cry and bellow
For the time that know feels
So ever long ago.Day after day the cycle continues.
The desire to find what before,
Had always been your "first choice on the menu"
And with Every midnight struck clock gong,
you can't help but to long
For when life was simple.
Months have passed by
Without a trace.
And you.
You have nothing to show.
For you are the one who knows,
That any progress has already come and gone
And the best you've ever done,
Is add meaningless lines to your lawn.
And every contest won,
Is nothing more than
A fleeting memory.
More months go on by,
A birthday candle makes you cry.
This was never what you were supposed to be
For we
We were to touch the sky
Fix the world,
Never tell a lie,
But now we sit
And think you've been nothing but a skit.
For the people around
You were nothing but a clown.
Make them laugh while you cry,
Your smile was never anything more than a lie.
And as you go home to rest,
You'll remember that this is what's best.
You were never anything more than a fool.
But after all, to be laughed at with 'friends'
Is much better than crying alone in the end.
Because for now, your happiness
Was left in a time down below,
So ever long ago.And for once upon a time,
You go and find
A spark.
Life is safe in their arms,
And you never want to let go.
But life is never that easy, this you know.
You try together, cry together
And, even though there's a glimpse of forever,
In their eyes,
You know that their words, now,
Hold nothing but lies.
You try and plead
Promise for them only, will you bleed.
But this still is not enough,
Your "love" was not so tough.
And once again, you are left alone to drink
From the waters of the past, on the brink
Of love and despair,
Alone for only yourself to care.
As even love now has become
A faintest glimmer show,
From a past
So ever long ago.And the dance and music swells,
And yet your life is as a living hell.
And while you sway through the halls,
You know that soon the final curtain will fall.
And all the time you wasted away,
On grounds of old fear, you begin to sway,
Your legs are beginning to not bend
And your song is coming to an end.
And you must ask yourself a question:
Will my life be music or a lesson?
To those who will come after,
Will memories of me be filled with laughter?
And as you dance your song of the grave,
You begin to wish for the things you crave.
And as you begin to feel so low,
You dream of the life you once had,
So ever long ago.And as you sit tonight to rest,
Your dreams of life weighing on your chest.
You must remind yourself of the fact,
That so ever long ago
Is never coming back.
And because you've lived in the past,
You know that your sadness will never last.
And life again will begin to shine,
And your mind will reassure you that everything is fine.
And that through your trials and troubles,
You remember that joy that comes from blowing bubbles.
This simple memory, a gift from God,
Will act as your lightning rod.
And you take your first step forward,
As you remember all of these words.
And you finally let go
Of what you've held on to,
From so ever long ago.

So Ever Long Ago
PoésieNostalgia is weird, and a lot of people struggle to put it into words. So I tried my best to do just that, so that maybe everyone can understand the world I miss, and thought I would be able to live in So ever long ago.
