"What is she doing here?" I pointed at the uninvited guest "You're not welcome here."

"I apologize, Ms. Manoban. I asked her to bring my clothes."

Yesterday ended perfectly even though I slept on the couch but today was different, my morning instantly ruined upon seeing my step sister's face.

"Good morning, Lisa. You're already grumpy, it's just early in the morning." Deb greeted me but I chose to ignore her

They are happily preparing breakfast like a lovely couple. Tsk. I thought Ms. Kim already rejected this monkey?

I went back to the living room to get my phone. I don't want to see them. My minions had a lot of missed calls last night, for sure they were just gonna ask me to drink.

There is one message from Baifern saying she wanted to see me. I looked at the time of the message and it was just minutes ago.

For sure she's worried about me, thinking that I'll be crying my eyes out.

I replied to her message saying "What is it, Fern? Is there something happened?"

My phone started to ring, getting the attention of the two. Ms. Kim raised her right eyebrow at me, mentally asking who is calling. I didn't pay much attention to her and pressed the green button.

"Zup?"

"Don't 'zup' me, Callista. Are you okay?"

I knew it, she's worried about me.

"I'm fine." I have to lie, every year, this very date is agonizing; my mom's death anniversary

"We're all going to mom's, I hope you could join us this time."

"Stop daydreaming, Fern. I'm no longer associated with them, you know that. How about Ella?"

"I'll bring her with me."

"No, bring her here. Don't associate Ella with them."

"Lis-"

"Fern, look, if you're just gonna add up to my stress then better stop now. Bring Ella here." I didn't wait for her response and ended the call

I glanced at the two, Deb is preparing the table while Ms. Kim is still looking at me but this time in sympathy. I know for sure they heard my conversation with my sister.

Getting off the couch, I said, "Baifern will bring Ella here." I went to my room and took a refreshing shower.

"Mom, don't leave us, please."

Mom zipped her suitcase before sitting on the bed "Come here, baby." She patted the space next to her

I obliged and said "Why do you have to leave, mom? Why can't I go with you?"

"This is for the better, Callista. Your father and I decided to completely separate, our relationship will never work anymore." She wrapped her arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to her "Here, you can have the life you deserve, the life I couldn't give."

"Mom, I don't want you to leave. If you leave, I want to go with you, this house is not a home without you." I cried, begging her to bring me with her

She held my chin using her other hand and made me look at her "Your sister will be by your side. Please understand that I also don't want to leave you and your sister. You're a Manoban, you deserves to be here. I want you to be brave, okay? When the time is right, I'll be coming back for you and your sister."
