9. Strange

Jack POV

I woke up the next morning to find that Snow wasn't there. Where is she? I panicked for a moment. I flew out of bed and grabbed my staff. I searched around the room, but she wasn't there.

I ran out the door, it got fixed yesterday, luckily I didn't run into anyone. I ran through hallways, up and down staircases, my speed started to get me confused where I was going. I decided to slow down. I stood there and looked around. All the doors seemed to be upside down.

Thud... Fell right on my head. Ouch, that's gonna last a while. I slowly started to get up, when I saw Sandy approaching me with a question mark over his head. I slowly stood up using my staff for support. Looking around, I saw ice all over the walls, floor, and ceiling. It looked beautiful to me.

"Hey Sandy, have you seen Snow?" I asked him. Big mistake on my part. Random signs started to appear above his head at light speed. "Hold on there, you need to sign slower." I told him. My head just turned upside down.

A thumbs up appeared and I was so relieved that she didn't disappear or run away. "Ok, now, where did you see her?" I asked.

I couldn't understand at first but then I saw an oven on top of Sandy's head and I knew exactly where to go. "Thanks Sandy!" I told him and ran off.

I ran right to the kitchen with no hesitation. Wind blew the doors open and I stepped in. First sight of the morning: North hoarding and eating a bunch of cookies. It wasn't a very pretty sight.

Then I looked over, and sitting across from him was Snow. Her eyes widened at my entry. But in a couple seconds she snapped out of it and said, "Hey Jack."

"Hi, Snow," I replied. I started to move closer to her. There was something strange about her. First, her eyes seemed different, I don't remember what color they were before, but now they were silver, like her hair, like the moon even. She seemed different in personality too. She just sat there. I saw that she still wore the bracelet though, the snowflake was still there.

"What's wrong Jack?" She asked me. She sounded and looked like she was filled with concern.

"Um... Nothing... You just seem different today," I blurted out.

"Really? I feel the same as yesterday," she replied.

Yesterday, what happened yesterday? Right, she snuck out into the woods... Baba Yaga... Her face was burnt, that's it half of her face looked like charcoal. Where is it? Her face is just as pale as ever, no scorch marks, or scars from yesterday night. Unlike me with a couple of bruises.

She doesn't even remember. "Snow, can I talk to you privately?" I asked her.

I stood up and so did she. We walked through some corridors and some stairs and reached my favorite balcony. I know it seems odd to have a favorite balcony, but this one just had such a nice view of the frozen Arctic.

I looked into her silver eyes and asked, "Do you remember what happened what happened yesterday night?"

"Um... Let me think... So we went to your room. You tucked me into bed and I fell asleep instantly, I don't remember you being there when I fell asleep though. Then I was awoken at midnight and the moon talked to me and have me this." She said and pointed at the bracelet. "That's strange, I don't remember that being on there... So anyway, then I saw a fire out in the distance, and that's all... Then I woke up at around 7:30am and you were there sleeping next to me." She explained. She missed a lot of stuff. At least now I know why she went out into the woods.

"What happened last night Jack? Is there something bugging you?" She asked.

I wasn't going to lie to her, she deserved to know, "Actually, there is. You went to that fire that you saw glowing. I heard you scream, it woke me up. I raced outside and found you unconscious in the snow with Baba Yaga ready to burn you. Luckily I got you away from there, but half of your face got seriously burned some how?"

She was just speechless. She could not believe what I was telling her. Her hand reached to touch her face. Her skin was glowing with no impurities. She just stood there in disbelief. Then I realized something. "Wait, the moon talked to you."

She nodded her head and I took her hand and lead her back down to the kitchen. North was stilling munching down cookies. "North! The moon talked to her." I told him.

For once, he was not paying attention to his cookies. His eyes stared at Snow. "So, what did he say?"

"He just told me to find my power," she told us. "And he also gave me this, although I don't know where the snowflake came from." She pointed at her bracelet.

"Interesting, very interesting. Want can't man on moon just tell us sometimes instead of making us think so much." Replied North. She was rubbing his beard with his hand, deep in thought.

"The snowflake, I made that for you," I finally got the guts to say it.

She looked back down at it and said, "thank you Jack, it's so beautiful." She came closer to me and gave me a hug. I hugged back.

"Oh, and North, we saw Baba Yaga in the woods yesterday night." I said.

"You did, where?" He asked.

"Not too far from here," I answered.

"If she is this close, she really wants something." Replied North.

Snow POV

Baba Yaga, why does that seem so familiar. I heard a voice in my head yelling "Vasilisa". I heard it before, but I don't exactly remember where.

A burning sensation started to fill my cheek. I placed my hand over it hoping it would end, but it only got worse. My heart started to beat harder and my head started to become woozy. I fell to the ground. "Vasilisa, you can't hide from me forever." Said a voice.

"Who are you? What do you want from me?" I yelled at it.

"Just come to me. Come to me and all your troubles will end Vasilisa." The voice rang through my ears.

As fast as it started, it stopped. I opened my eyes and released my grip on my cheek. Jack was sitting next to me. Was I yelling out loud? I sure hope not. North was standing not too far from him.

"I have to see my mom." Is all I said to them.
