11. The Pond

Snow POV

Bright white light slowly fills my silver eyes. I start to move my body to know that I'm still alive. As I move, I feel tubes stuck in my arm. There's this awful ache in my chest. I looked around to find myself in a small one person room with a window, big enough for a person to come in and out of. Outside, the moon is shining brightly at me. Just to see it is wonderful. I tilt my head over a bit a see Jack sleeping on a chair. He didn't look too comfortable, but I didn't want to wake him from his nap.

Why do I have to be so stupid? I can't be anywhere without Baba Yaga being there to try and kill me. She could even be here. She looked like my mother when I saw her in my room. Which means she could be disguised as anyone.

I jumped when the door opened. Some nurse came in. "Did I startle you?" She asked.

"Uh, no I was just thinking, that's all." I answered. She smiled and proceeded with her job.

She checked my heart beat and my blood pressure. Oh how much I hate being at a hospital. After writing stuff down on a clipboard, and asking me a few questions about I feel, she unhooked all the equipment and took all the tubes out of my arm. When she took off the heart beat monitor, it made the long beep sound, and I heard Jack jump out of the chair, still with his staff in hand. I giggled. His expression was priceless, but he figured out I was okay, he calmed down and came over to me. He sat on the side of the bed while the nurse finished her job.

After she left, Jack looked at me and said, "Never do that again." His hand dropped the staff and he wrapped his arms around me into a frozen hug. "You wanna get out of here?" He asked still hugging me.

"Oh yes," I told him. I started to get out of the bed and I figured that I only had a hospital gown on. "Do you know where they put my clothes?" I asked trying not to blush.

"Um, yea, just a sec." He said and walked over to a stool with a pile of clothes on it. "Are they these ones?" He asked in a sarcastic manner.

"Do you mind?" I asked him. With no hesitation, he walked over to the window and flew out, and landed on a nearby tree facing the opposite direction.

I went over to the stool and started to dress. I changed pretty quickly. "Ok Jack." I said and Jack flew in. I felt a little woozy at first and I gripped my head a little.

"You ok?" Asked Jack.

"Yea, just a bit woozy," I told him.

I started to hear footsteps coming down the hall. Jack heard it too. He quickly ran over to the window and put out his hand so I could follow. Without hesitation I took his hand and started to walk over to the window. I almost tripped on my own feet. Jack got a hold of me. Gusts of wind started to rise. I looked back at the door, the doorknob was just turning and we flew out the window.

I love flying, it makes me feel free and happy. Jack hollered as he flied, like always, and I tried not to look down. We didn't fly very far, and we arrived at a pond. It was a beautiful, frozen pond. Jack set me down on a high rock and sat next to me.

"Why are we here?" I asked.

"O, I don't know... Memories." Said Jack while looking around the pond. I noticed that his staff was still in his hand.

"What memories?" I asked in great wonder.

"Well, this is where I died, and where I was born. This is where I officially became a guardian. I took my little sister ice skating here. When I was different, this was my favorite place to go." He answered. The tone in his voice lightened up.
