Chapter Four - Beaver the Hero of the Year-o!
I avoided Ashley the entire day at school. At one point Bale had to force me to walk the normal way to class, instead of walking around the building from the outside and taking the back door. Michael and Billy B. kept cheering and singing songs in my honor for punching Ashley.
"Beaver's our hero, yes she is!
'She's the hero of the year-o!'
She's Beaver the lovely hero!"
I begged them to stop so many times but they kept making up new songs on the spot. "Oh my gosh, you guys, you're gonna get me in so much trouble!" I blushed, walking a little faster to lose them. They were partially the reason I tried to walk around the building and avoid everyone. Every time they saw me they sang a new song.
"Hey look! It's Beaver!" Michael hollered when he saw me holding my head down in the hall. I was trying so hard to disguise myself. Before Bale could tell them to leave me alone, someone bumped into my shoulder. I looked behind me and saw Ashley was glaring at me as she walked past me. "Oh look, Beaver the hero." She scoffed. She still had a black eye. No matter how bad I hated her, I felt bad for her.
"Listen," I tried. "Ashley, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hit you, I just...kinda lost control. If it makes ya feel any better, it took me three showers to get the cottage cheese out of my hair." I shrugged. Why would I offer her that happiness? Well, at least I only had food in my hair, and not a shiner.
She rolled her eyes at me, "Like I give a crap." and walked away.
Bale took me by the shoulders, "Come on, Beaver, let's go get some lunch." And this time, he made sure we sat at the good table. I'm pretty sure it's that table or the bathroom from now on.

I stood in the hallway with Bale, biting my nails. He was putting his books in his locker before going home. I couldn't stop thinking about the next hour I'd have to endure with Ashley. I couldn't take it anymore! "Why couldn't you have done something to get in trouble too? Hit Ashley! It feels freakin' great!" I snapped, throwing my hands up. People passing us in the halls stared at me, I just ignored them. I didn't care, they knew it'd feel great too!
Bale shook his head, laughing, "I'm sure it does, Beaver. But today is my mom's birthday- I have to go to dinner with the rest of the family."
I sighed, "Oh, right. Tell her I said happy birthday." I looked down at the floor. How could I suggest he got detention, just so I didn't have to be alone with her? What kind of friend is that.
Bale chuckled and lifted my chin with his fingers, "Believe me, Beaver, if it wasn't for my mom's birthday, I'd punch the president of the united states, just to be in detention with you." He smiled.
I smiled back at him. He was awfully close right now. I noticed I had stopped breathing for a moment.
Bale looked over my face, especially my lips. Did I have something on my face, and he just didn't want to tell me? Before I could ask him, I was looking at his lips too...
Bale sighed and stood up straight, letting go of my chin. "I'll let my mom know you said happy birthday."
"Thanks..."
"Good luck with...her." He jokingly looked disgusted when he spoke her name. I nodded back, smiling slightly, before he turned away to leave. I turned the opposite way, walking to my doom.
My mind raced, thinking all the things she might do or say while we were in there. The teacher - rumors told, I've never been in detention - usually left the room, trusting us to make the right choice and not talk. Yeah, that's a brilliant plan.
I rolled my eyes as I stepped in front of the class room door. I could see Ashley sitting in there when I opened the door. She was holding her hair up to her eyes, looking at the ends.
"Hello, Miss Annabelle. You may take a seat wherever in the room." Mr. Hopkins, the English teacher said. He watched me carefully as I walked to the very back of the room, sitting in the far corner - the furthest seat from Ashley possible.
"...Well, alright." He shook his head, obviously having an issue with my choice of seating. I didn't care, I was far away from her!
"I need to grade a few papers in my office," Here we go. "You two are to stay in here and be quiet." And with that the teacher walked out of the room. I wanted to yell after him, "Don't leave me in here with her! She'll kill me!" But no, I sat there like a good girl, pretending to read a book while I watched Ashley in the corner of my eye.
Every now and again, she'd look up at me. Her face was glowing pink and she scowled like I've never seen before. I kept my head down, counting the minutes till I would flee this room. Please let it be soon...--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cliff hanger! You guys know you love me. So we're getting to the super exciting part I think in the next chapter :) Well, it's going to take a while for the MAJOR part of the book, but I think you'll love it. By the way, what do you think of the new name of the book? I liked it better than 'Love is a Sick Twisted Game!' and it makes more sense...to me. I hope you guys liked this chapter!
I'm thinking of entering some sort of contest - any suggestions? As always comments/votes/likes on fb are most enjoyable :) so go ahead! You know (I want) you (to) want to ;) lol.
