A Cruel Past (Book Two)

Chapter 3 A Badger, An Otter and a Wolf

"Who would have guessed that...all that time ago we used to be friends." A Fire rages in the background as a young blonde-haired girl and a young kunoichi stand off to the side.
"My lady...what do we do now?" A young Flax stares at the fire.
"This could keep everyone warm for a while, We should show everyone this fire Jiro!" Jiro was Stunned for a second before softly smiling.
"Sure my lady, let's keep everyone warm."
Ever since we were kids we fought to protect the people of the bastion especially the children, more and more our numbers grew, especially after meeting the two people I once called my friends.

Flax was leading a group of kids in a protest against the Baron of the Bastion, but since they were kids they started to get overrun even leading to the deaths of Flax's comrades.
Suddenly though the bandits were caught in trap after trap as they heard a kid laughing on top of a roof.
"Don't worry! The Gray and purple tide is here!" Gray leaps off the roof as they land next to Flax, Yuri quickly gets off.
"Who are you, spies!?" Flax draws her gun and aims it point blank at Yuri as he smirks.
"Would a spy willing offer you sensitive intel on the baron's troop placements?" Yuri waves a document in her face as she groans.
"What is your name?"
"Yuri! And this is my friend Gray."
"The wolf?"
"He is a werewolf stupid." Gray transforms back to normal and yawns as Flax ends up laughing as they form a new team.

We called ourselves Kids Against the Baron, Yuri, of course, came up with the name it was an odd one for sure but he and Gray brought a lot of much-needed morale to the other kids, Yuri even dressed up as a princess from a storybook to keep the kids happy, although it did seem like yuri enjoyed the dress a lot.
A year passed as I grew closer to those idiots I started to see them as comrades maybe even family...
"How are things holding up Jiro?" Jiro appears next to Flax.
"Well we have gained a lot of support, the baron isn't sure what to do, especially since he is so inept." They both laugh at that when suddenly Yuri knocks on the door.
And then everything went downhill from there...

"You and Gray are leaving?! Why!? Everything is going great here!"
"But the rest of the Rendfall are suffering, this is a chance to make changes everywhere!" Yuri pleaded his case as Flax was simply too caught off guard to hear him out.
"What about us! What about the people here? What about...what about me?" Both of them were caught off guard by her sudden showing of weakness.
"Flax i-"
"Just go Yuri...you have bigger plans that don't need us." Yuri looked down sadly and leaves, As soon as he does Flax throws her chair in frustration as Jiro comforts Flax to calm her down.
"We don't need them...we can fix the bastion all on our own!" She stands up with false confidence but Jiro couldn't tell the difference.

And We did the best we could...but slowly we lost people...almost everyone either died or left us until it was just me and Jiro again...well until we met Akuma.
Flax and Jiro were out searching for recruits they stumble across a masked man, heaving for any breath he could take.
He looks up to them and smirks as he takes off his mask coughing up blood.
"Care to do a dying man a favor and finish him off?" Flax kneels to get a good look at him, she sees a patch on his jacket.
"You are a Mawjaw," Flax asks him as Akuma groans having a feeling he will have to wait for his sweet death.
"Yeah, I am, what about it?"
"You could be of great use to me and my cause, how about you join me?" Akuma raises an eyebrow at her.
"And what do I get for joining you squirt?" Jiro immediately gets defensive of Flax but Flax stops her.
"You seem to enjoy killing am I right?"
"It's my favorite pastime! My employer however doesn't seem to like me killing everyone I see!...hence why im in a puddle of blood." Flax smirks and offers her hand.
"Then join me and slaughter to your heart's delight~" Akuma's eyes sparkle as he takes her hand.
"You got a deal! Consider me your right chainsaw!"
"Right chainsaw? Haha, I do like the sound of that."

Suddenly the tale was caught short as Yuri brings up a question.
"So wait Akuma was a guy before?" Yuri raises his hand to ask something which irritates Flax.
"LET ME FINISH!" Yuri jumps a bit as Akuma laughs.
"We'll get to that part Don't worry." Flax continues as something nags at the back of Yuri's mind.
