A Cruel Past (Book Two)

Chapter 12 Familiar skies

Rendfall, A land watched over by the twin birds one of light and one of shadow. They cared deeply for the land and its creatures even as humans came into being and started to civilize they feared humanity would cause a war by its rapid expansion....but none came no fire, Smoke, or brimstone the humans formed what appeared to be a lasting people with their fellows.

But not all was peaceful as while the dragons were happy to share the land they protected some believed the humans were trespassers on THEIR land and sought our destruction! The fell dragon rallied a war against the humans bringing great chaos and ruin the birds descended into the chaos and knew they had to do something, they gave their power to two humans of their choice two siblings.

The Raven master of the shadows chose a young man and the Phoenix master of the flames chose a young girl with their power the fell dragon was slain leaving its body to one day become the Fell isles that the mages now call home. This leads us to the kingdom of Morningstar rules over the continent of rendfall led by now twin queens a first in all of Morningstar's history.
"The shadow queen, Mistress of the dark herself Thasir Helman in charge of the foreign affairs and military, and the Flame queen Bianca Stark, Flame incarnate was in charge of queenly duties and civil affairs.

"And some other pretty cool stuff." A woman dressed in a black cloak covering most of her features spoke to a group of kids as they read out of a storybook.
One of the children then raised a hand and she pointed.
"Well, how did they beat the big scary dragon if he was so strong?" The other kids joined in the confusion as the woman giggled.
"Honestly I wish I knew too kids, not much is known about that era besides written history and the fact that the fell dragon is dead." As she explains a woman with fox ears kneels next to her.
"It's time to go before she realizes we are gone." The fox touches the woman's shoulder as she groans.

"Okay, Alice Let's scram then! Bye, kids!" She waves them goodbye as she drops the book and the two flee up a staircase onto the rooftops.
"Hahaha! Lets go come on Alice!" They slide down a roof and carefully race across the railings
"Now you wanna leave! Ugh if Thasir finds out we left-"

"I will make sure nothing happens to you, Alice." The cloaked woman holds Alice's shoulders as a Train shoots past them her cloak shoots off her orange eyes filled with the flames of determination as she grabs her retainer's hand and leaps off the building.
"W-WAIT YOU SON OF A-" They both go down and land on a speeding train as Alice plants her blade into the train and pulls Bianca up onto the train.
"You are gonna be the death of me, woman!" Alice yells out as the wind whips both their hair around

"Wasn't that amazing though!? We are riding on a speeding train! We read books to kids and it isn't even evening yet! We can't end the day now!" Alice groans and uses one of her tails to move the hair out of her face.
"Hells no we are going back before your sister skins me for a new pelt!" Alice's multiple tails shoot out as she lifts Bianca leaps onto a rooftop and races back to the castle.
"Come on Alice I barely get to go outside anymore!"
"For good reason anca, if something happened to you Thasir would raise absolute hell!"

"She means well...but she can be quite smothering sometimes and I just wanna explore!" They reach the castle Alice uses her tail to hold Bianca and she leaps up onto the side of the castle using her claws as handholds onto the stone wall and leaps up to the young queen's bedroom as a tall ominous figure is already awaiting them.
"Care to explain where you two were?" The figure stepped into the light as her shadows hid she stood almost towering over her sister.
"Would you believe me if I told you that we were reading stories to kids?" The woman pauses and sighs.
"Yes I definitely would sister...could you at least say where you are going if you are gonna leave the castle."
"Please Thasir im 20 years old! I can take care of myself." They both have an intense stare-down as light and dark clash together and mix until Thasir finally backs off.
"Fine, you are lucky I can't stay mad at you." Bianca smiles widely at her sister as Alice can finally release the pressure from her body.
