A Cruel Past (Book Two)

Chapter 7 Storms Against the Throne

A girl sits alone as she fiddles with the toys around her. Another girl walks over and sits next to her waving at the shy girl.
"H-hello there."
"H-hi" the girl with a toy hides her face behind it.
"Im Zeta, what's your name?"
"A-Ares..."
"Ooo like the god of war right!?" 
"W-well something like that yeah...who are you though?" Zeta smirks and proudly stands up.
"I'm Zeta! A dragon charmer!" She laughs out as Ares tilts her head.
"You are supposed to have more of a reaction!"
"I mean I'm a dragon...I'm not charmed." Zeta is immediately stunned as Ares laughs.
"That's not funny!" Zeta pouts as Ares finishes laughing and offers her toy.

"I don't have much fun with these dolls...wanna play with them?" Zeta thinks before getting an idea and grabbing Ares's hand.
"I'VE GOT A BETTER IDEA COME ON!" The kids run off to have a day of fun and adventure a day that both remember fondly before being brought back to the reality of their situation.

"What are you doing here Ares? This is a war zone!"
"Yeah, we are making this place one! Roundabout thinks he can oppress the demos! Even if we are kids of a monarchy we won't stand for that!" He puts his sheisty back on before the rest of his siblings rush over escaping the gas.
"Ares!? We Gotta go!" They all catch their breath as Zeta ponders and gets...an idea as she offers her hand to Ares.
"Like old times sake?" Ares looked at her hand and he couldn't help but laugh.
"I think we have our exit right here...if she doesn't mind carrying us." As they say that blue lands behind them as the rest of the kids hop onto the large dragon Ares takes Zeta's hand as they both blush.

"Where have you been dummy...I haven't heard a word out of you in 2 weeks Z." Zeta rubs the back of her neck as she sighs.
"Family biz A I wish I could have seen you sooner but I really want to keep my job but now with this!-"
"You don't have to be involved Z this is my family's business."
"Am I not family then?" Ares stops and thinks before looking away.
"Ares I've known you all my life I might as well be another of your siblings!"
"Don't say that! Hahaha!" They both start laughing as they reconnect and they both feel their hearts beat fast.
"I don't want you to get hurt Z"
"If it's for you Ares I'll fight until my dying breath..dummy." She picks up Ares and flies up with Blue and the others as they fly above the shootout below both Zeta and Ares look down disappointed.
"Ares!" Hazel yells down catching his attention.
"Give 'em hell!" They both smile as Zeta launches herself down with him in tow.
"What now hazel?" Seris asks as Hazel taps blue.
"Blue take us home we gotta get ready to explain this to Mom if she beats Ares home." They fly off and leave the two to clean up.

Zeta lands as Ares reloads his gun she draws her sword.
"No killing Ares"
"Boo"
"But brain trauma is allowed on the goons."
"Hell yeah!" They race through the yard knocking out thugs in their path until a police officer in riot gear closelines Ares.
"Take that!...wait-luitenant?!" Zeta slides under and sweeps the officer's leg as ares pistol whips him to sleep.
"Aim for the joints then knock 'em out."
"Ha don't have to tell me twice!" They start knocking out goons and officers in sync almost like a game.
"Up high!" She punches a goon up as Ares leaps off a cargo crate.
"Down low!" He punches the goon into the ground rolling to a stop as he offers a high-five to Zeta before curving her.
"Too slow~"
"You ass!-get down!" She tackles him as gunfire barely misses them as they reach the main firefight.
"Ow...hey as much as I like you Z this isn't the time for us to be lying down, especially on each other." They both smile at each other for a moment before getting up.
"Okay, Ares we need a plan Mom is going all out on those goons people could get hurt."
"Yeah I understand that love but unless we have some showstopper plan we are screwed." As they both look they both see a flash bang and smirk.

The firefight was getting dangerous as the officers were losing men faster than the goons.
"Captain we need to fall back!"
"Dammit, not when we have them on the ropes!" Suddenly a flash bang flies through the air as it crackles with red energy before Ares shoots it blinding everyone in sight.
"Light 'em up A!" Ares and Zeta fire on the goons taking them all down with ease as the flash bang wears off the captain immediately spots her daughter.
"ZETA!" She stands up as Zeta rubs her next she notices the person next to her and immediately knows who it is.
"ARES!" He stops in his tracks and nervously laughs.
"Busted." She storms over furious at them both.
"You both are in so much trouble when this is over!"
"But we helped out!"
"And endangered yourselves in the process!"
"To be fair these guys were just posers." The captain glares at Ares and he zips it.

As they get chewed out one last insurgent grabs his gun and aims at Zeta and her mom Ares immediately sees this and dashes at Zeta and slashes the bullet he fired as his hand transforms into a dragon claw before he draws and shoots the last goon.
"Fucking cunts." He blows the smoke off his gun as he turns back to them.
"Could you not tell my mom about this." He chuckles nervously as the scene cuts to an elegant hallway Reina scrambles through cue cards as her brother appears.
"Still panicking sis don't worry you will do great." Roy pats Reina's back as they stand outside the door.
"Roy this has to go perfect! I'm gonna try and talk away over two generations of trauma!"
"To be fair two generations is like a drop in the bucket for dragons and gods."
"Not when one of those generations nearly made them GO EXTINCT!" She sighed again and touched the door before pushing it open as she entered the council room the very air itself was filled with celestial posh that was almost suffocating but Reina was used to it flipping her switch and fixing her dress.

"So this is the descendant of the apocalypse family? State your name." The chamber was filled with the celestial bodies their forms little more than a silhouette with stars except for one as she stepped forward taking a human appearance.
"Ahem Hello Celestial council! My name is Reina Apocalypse! And I have come here today to negotiate a peace between gods and originals." As Reina spoke the woman stared at her black hair and blue eyes met with gold as they both blush before Reina looked away and continued speaking.
"("She is quite cute...for the granddaughter of a monster.")
"And why should we trust your words Dragon, especially after what your grandparents did." Reina nods.
"I understand that you all have no reason to trust me but I have an idea, a ball that I will host for you all to show your power and wealth to us mortals a break from the stuffiness of meeting a night to remember!" The Celestials all murmur as Reina looks nervous but then the woman speaks up.
"A night to remember? Bold words Reina but do you remember think this will be enough for us?" Reina stares at the woman with full confidence.
"I believe so Miss Zettai." The celestials all look surprised that Reina even knew her name as the celestial woman looks surprised and smiles laying on the railing.

Ares lays on the floor as Zeta explores his room extremely tired from shape shifting for the first time as he looks at his hand.
"Hey A you kept the records I gave you?"
"Of course I did Zeta you got me into the music remember?"
"Oh yeah, I did show you rock music, though I eventually just moved to pop music." Ares rolls his eyes as he gets up and takes his guitar and sits on his bed strumming it as Zeta sits next to him and begins to hum a familiar tune for them both as Ares starts to sing.

"This love has taken its toll on me." Zeta switches in
"She said goodbye too many times before." Ares switches in again
"And her heart is breaking in front of me" They both start singing at the same time.
"And I have no choice 'cause I won't say goodbye anymore."
"Whoa, oh, oh"
"Whoa, oh, oh"
"Whoa, oh, oh, oh" they both stop and realize what they are doing and laugh.
"Why did we stop hanging out like this?"
"Well Z you are the one that up and ghosted me." Zeta shrinks and sighs as Ares pats her head.
"I'm not mad but a text wouldn't have been too much to ask bruv!" Zeta laughs and nods.

The door opens as they hear the commotion downstairs and head down to see the man himself Uncle Orson getting yelled at by Hazel.
"Hey, I didn't think it would be that hot I'm deeply sorry!" Seris holds back Hazel as she tries to grab him.
"If we died! Then what!?"
"I was on standby in case you kids were in danger! But thanks to Zeta I wasn't needed." As they argue Ares slides down the stairs as Zeta simply walks down.
"Could you idiots yell any louder!? What if Mom walks in"
"And what if I did walk in?" Reina and Roy finally return home to see their house in complete disarray as she sighs.
"Alright just tell me what happened and I will try not to be pissed off."

A wolf leaps from building to building heading towards an abandoned warehouse and sneaking in through the window as he walks through he passes by multiple people finally reaching a main room as a man and woman stand over a map of the city.
"Glad you could finally join us love~" Gray transforms back to his human form as Old Zeta stands up.
"Call everyone in we are ready to make our entrance." The Children of apocalypse all gather with new clothes new scars and a new resolve to save the world by any means necessary...
