winona doesn't mind an 8-hour flight from hoenn to unova. the thing she doesn't understand is whatever happened between booking and all that flight paper matters that she and wallace ended up sitting together. she could've sat with whoever and she'll be fine with it but she just feels awkward sitting beside wallace in such a small and cramped up space. her only consolation is that her seat is beside the window and she can admire the view of the dark, night sky and maybe take a few pictures here and there.

wallace had mentioned that they were flying business class but sitting with him now, winona felt like they were in such a small space. or maybe her anxiousness and awkwardness is making the space around her so small and somewhat so hard to breathe. she tried glancing at wallace who was already asleep, most likely because of how tired he was the whole day from work. he put on a small neck pillow to make himself more comfortable. his features didn't really changed much now that winona is looking at him close up. in fact, he was much more glowing now than he was before. winona wondered why as she glanced away and looked at the lovely scenery before her on the window of their airplane.

he must've been more happier now than he was before. from what i heard, he became much more successful even when he wasn't the hoenn champion yet. maybe he already opened the business he has been dreaming of opening and that he found his success there as well.

or maybe he was already in love with someone new.

winona sighed. what was she thinking? does it even matter to her if he was already seeing someone? should it even matter or bother her? but if it didn't, then what was this heavy feeling in her chest? this empty but so heavy feeling that feelis like it's eating her inside out?

but what if he really was seeing somebody else?

winona sighed, heavier than the last. she needs to stop thinking about it or she'll end up draining herself mentally again.

why was life unfair to her again?

winona stop.

why do you do this to yourself? why must you torment yourself with thoughts that don't have any proof? why do you always hurt yourself?

"winona,"

winona almost jumped back in surprise when she heard wallace whisper her name. she quickly turned around to look at him and she saw he has his eyes closed.
"wallace?"

"yes, i called you," he murmured.

"why? do you need something?"

"yes, i need you to relax,"

"what?" winona asked, confused as to what wallace meant with what he said.

"i could feel your body all tensed up and i'm sure you're stressing out about something,"

"oh," winona murmured as she tried her best to relax her tensed up body, "this is nothing you should be worried about,"

wallace, eyes still closed, muttered something."you don't have to tell me what's wrong or what's bothering you. i'm just a hundred percent sure that whatever that is you're thinking isn't true and that you should stop worrying about it," winona didn't say anything back. she just wondered what led wallace to say that. what did he mean by that? was she too obvious? or did wallace just knows her so well that he could tell that something is bugging her? she looked away, body now a little more relaxed. "you should sleep, winona," she heard wallace murmur again.

"i wanted to look at the view a little more," she answered before looking at the other gym leaders who were all either asleep, watching a movie, or scrolling through their pokenavs.

"you'll be staying at unova for two weeks, you can admire the view however long you want to. you should rest now," she heard wallace say.

annoyed at how he keeps treating her like a little kid, she tried her best to move a little further away from him and crossed her arms, rested her head by the window, and looked at the scenery instead. her eyes soon felt a little heavy. she closed her eyes and let herself indulge in a deep sleep for their flight will be longer than the normal flight she's used to.

------------

wallace slowly opened his eyes and glanced around. he saw that most of them were already asleep, including winona beside him. he yawned and stretched his legs as far as it can go with the space given in seats in business class. he looked at winona and saw that she has her arms loosely crossed in front of her chest, her mouth slightly open as she leaned by the window.

he couldn't help but sigh just looking at winona. he leaned towards her and prepped her body as carefully as he can so he won't wake her up. he positioned her so that her head is resting and that she feels more comfortable, preventing her from feeling any stiff neck when she wakes up. he was about to lend her his sleeping mask when he noticed winona shivering in the cold. he looked around her seat to check if she brought any blanket or jacket with her. there was none within his sight and so he brought his thick blanket and covered up her body. winona moved slightly and wallace thought he woke her up but she just sighed and moved her body more comfortably under the blanket and continued sleeping.

for a moment, looking at winona now, he noticed she looked more tired and stressed.

what was she thinking? what is taking up the space in her pretty little head? what was worrying her so constantly?

what can he do to ease her pain, even if just a little bit?

wallace bit his tongue. he shouldn't be thinking about all of these. whatever is going on in her life shouldn't really matter to him anymore.

he moved away from her and looked at the little window beside her instead. he could already see the night lights from nimbasa city. he sighed and sat back comfortably on his seat, pulling his thick coat closer to his chest and closed his eyes again before reaching out for his eye mask and putting it on his face.

it became a little chillier now than it was a few moments ago, wallace thought before finally falling asleep.
