The Chamber of Secrets.
__
It was 4AM on a Saturday morning, the perfect time and day to execute our plan.
I quickly got out of bed and opened my curtain, Christina and Susan doing the same. We quickly got dressed and left our dormitory under my invisibility cloak undetected.
Once we made it pass the common room, we quickly made our way to mourning Myrtle's bathroom where Daphne and Tracey were already waiting and thankfully, there was no Myrtle around to make things more difficult.
''Ready?''. I asked the girls and they all nodded. We soon spread out to look for any signs or clues that'd lead us to the chamber of secrets.
''Aurora?''. Christina called after searching for some minutes.
I quickly looked up at her. ''Found something?''.
She shook her head. ''No. I just wanted to ask, what did you mean by magic's dying yesterday in the library? Is it something you read in that book?''.
I sighed when the rest stopped what they were doing and looked at me expectantly. ''Yes, something like that''. I stood up straight and leaned on a nearby sink before I continued explaining. ''Even though wizards and witches have always used wands to channel their magic into, there was a time when the amount of wizards and witches gifted with magical powers like metamorphagus were of a greater number than currently. Ofcause, inbreeding did have a major role to play in it, however I believe the introduction to new blood could cure that''.
Hermione gasped and assumed. ''New blood?. You mean Like muggleborns!''.
I shook my head. ''No 'Mione. As much as I don't want to admit it, purebloods like Parkinson are right, but wrong at the same time. Right in a sense that purebloods do hold a lot of magical powers than muggleborns and even some half bloods, but wrong in a sense that it applies to every pureblood wizard. Inbreeding is not advised both in the magical and muggle world, because while it causes health problems and disabilities in muggles, To Wizards it dampens or mess with their family magic. For example, look at the Gaunts, they did it with their own siblings and ended up loosing their family magic all together. In this case the only way they could gain back their family magic, stable and whole, is if someone in the family finally marries a witch or wizard who was born with magical parents. The parents could both be muggleborns, just as long as they both have magic and aren't related to their in laws in any way. But if he or she persuades a muggleborn or worst, a muggle, they may be able to conceive a magical child in the end and regain their family magic back, but the magic would be so unstable it could led to madness or create an emotionless monster. In the end it is not about power, but the stability of the magic. When I said magic was dying, I meant family magic. And Christina, I said was, which means past tense. Families like the Blacks, Malfoys, Lestranges etc are lucky that they've evolved from the tradition of marrying cousins or siblings or else I don't think any of them would still exist''.
''Okay, so you said inbreeding had a major role in the reason magic was dying, which means there were minor roles that also contributed to it''.
''There is''. I emphasised. ''Right now, someone is purposely hindering most families, purebloods especially, from completely unlocking their family magic and bringing back those magical gifts that runs through their bloodlines. This person, or people, are the same ones who got rid of nearly all the copies of the original Hogwarts, a history books, am sure of it''.
