A/N Hey guys, so sorry for the delay, I've been a bit busy with school and work, and I've had a little bit of a lack of inspiration lately but here's a new chapter, I'm going to try now to post at least one chapter a week, also it's kind of late and I may have a few grammatical and spelling errors, sorry in advance, but without further ado, enjoy!

Dan's POV.

Closely following the witchy woman, Phil and I find ourselves walking past door after door after door, this hallway seems almost endless. Finally we stop at the end, where she pushes open massive double doors and we're greeted with the sight of dozens of empty tables and chairs, long and made of metal.

"The children are all in recess right now, you'll have to wait a bit." the woman tells us.

"I'm Agatha, by the way."

"Dan, and this is Phil." I tell her, and she rolls her eyes.

"Well duh, I did read your forms."

And with that, she turns on her heel and exits the room, leaving Phil and I alone, waiting in this huge room. I sit down on one of the metal benches, and motion for Phil to sit beside me. He does so, and I let out a nervous sigh.

"What if we don't find anyone? What if- what if they don't like us? What if-"

"Stop." he tells me, smiling nervously. "It'll be fine, Dan, I promise. We've talked about this, we'll just wait and see what happens and who we meet, it'll all be fine Bear."

I smile shakily, still utterly terrified. Phil snakes his arm around my waist and pulls me into a reassuring hug, and we stay like that for a long time. When I finally let go, I look across at him and find myself genuinely grinning.

"What?" he asks, a smile forming on his own face.

"I love you so much." I say, my heart fluttering with complete adoration for my gorgeous husband.

"I love you too, don't worry about a thing, Dan." he replies, and I lean in and kiss him briefly. We're broken apart by a scoffing sound and I jerk away, looking up and seeing Agatha, having returned from wherever she went and scowling deeply at us.

"Really, just keep it away from me." she snipes, and I resist the urge to reply with something I might regret, after all she's the one who'll sign final permission on our papers.

Instead, I smile sickly sweet and peck Phil on the cheek again, that'll teach her.... Bitch.

Rolling her eyes in disgust, she takes a clipboard she has in her hands and clicks open a pen, filling out information on the page and ignoring us.
"So, uh, when will we meet the children?" Phil asks nervously.
"When they finish recess, shouldn't be much longer, about 5 minutes." she tells us without looking up.
I look around at the dull, colourless environment and feel a pang of sympathy for these kids, this place gives off more of a prison feel than anything.
Suddenly, a small child by about the age of six or seven bursts in, racing towards Agatha and tugging on her leg.
"Aggie, Aggie!" the child cries, and Agatha shoots her a poisonous look.
"What is it, Gracie? You know you're not supposed to be inside during recess, so this better be important."
"It's Robin, Aggie, she's left again!" the girl, Gracie, blurts out.
Agatha's face fills with rage and she clenches her fists.
"Again? Seriously? My god, she'll be getting quite a beating when she gets back, I can assure you. Would you go get everyone and tell them to come inside now? Quickly." she tells the girl, who nods briefly and takes off outside again.
As Agatha shakes her head, I silently wonder about this Robin girl. It seems understandable to not want to stay in this place, but what would urge her to want to run away?
My thoughts are interrupted by the steady stream of young girls and boys entering through the doorway, led by the little girl Gracie who's marching proudly.
"All right!" Agatha shouts.
"We've got some parents today looking to adopt, are you gonna be on your best behaviour?" she barks, and the children all nod vigorously, staring at us with wide eyes.
"Ok," she says, turning to us, "how do you wanna do this?"
"Uh-um..." I turn to Phil, who looks just as clueless.
"We-we'll just talk to them, if that's alright." he stammers, and Agatha nods.
We turn anxiously and look at all the children, now running around and playing, creating an absolute chaos, which is adorable.
I share a nervous glance with Phil, and we start slowly meeting each child, one by one. Three in particular stand out, a sweet five year old named Posy, a seven year old boy named Ron with spiky blonde hair and a mischievous personality, and a short eleven year old with an endearing crooked grin and pigtails named Wendy. We're taken to another room to discuss everything and we sit down. We realise we have absolutely no idea who we're going to choose. This won't be easy...
"I've looked into your house arrangement, and I've come to the conclusion that it would be most sensible to adopt someone of an age between eight and up, I would consent it but it would be most inconvenient to have a younger child living in your apartment." Agatha tells us.
"Well we can't move, we've been looking for houses for months and there's just nowhere we could live without going to great lengths to get to work." Phil tells her, and I nod on agreement.
"Well, I'm afraid you're running out of time, you're going to have to make a decision soon." she tells us, and we agree to go speak with some of the children for the last time.
Turning in to the room the kids are in, we step inside just soon enough to hear a loud bang and everyone turns to the heavy wooden doors to the exit, and the girl standing in them.
She looks about thirteen or fourteen, despite her short height, and she stands in the doorway panting heavily. It must've began snowing, as she's covered in a sprinkling of white dust that's stuck to her hair and clothes. She looks at everyone, and then at us with a confused glance, then finally at Agatha and an already exasperated expressions darkens her face.
"Where on Earth have you been?" Agatha snaps, stalking towards the girl and grabbing her by the shoulder.
"Don't touch me! I was just going for a walk, I didn't hurt anybody, geez..." the girl pipes back.
"Didn't hurt anybody? You're a selfish, worthless brat, you know that?" Agatha bellows, and begins dragging the girl by her hair, actually by her freaking hair, and the girl struggles against her, kicking the woman and shoving her away.
"That's it! Go, Robin you pathetic excuse for an orphan, go to the cellar and don't even think about coming out!" she cries, and I watch, horrified, as she pushes the girl to the ground where she stays, looking down and silent.
"Go on, then!" she bellows.
"Wait!" Phil and I cry out in unison.
"What the hell do you want?" she shoots an angry glare at us.
"We'd like to talk to her, please." I pipe up, and even the girl looks up at us in surprise.
"This girl?" Agatha asks, scoffing.
"No, not her. You don't want to adopt this bitch, she's nothing more than scum!"
I feel a rage in my stomach and resist the urge to smack this woman, instead glaring at her poisonously.
"You don't want me... It's okay, I already know." the girl whispers, staring at the floor.
This time Phil's the one who speaks up.
"We'd like to talk to you, in the interview room."
