"Hi, I'm Sabine Wren," said a Mandalorian girl with navy blue and orange hair. Aleckina recognized her as the girl who had found herself and Ezra earlier. She seemed to be in her late teens and, judging by her hair and graffiti armor, an aspiring artist.
Soon, Sabine and Hera were busy cleaning and bandaging Aleckina's wounds. Sabine rolled up Aleckina's pant leg, and was shocked to find an old blaster fire scar.
"What happened?" she asked. "This had to have happened years ago."
Aleckina looked away. "I was four when that happened. It's nothing," she said, sounding a bit distant.
"You were shot when you were four?" Sabine asked, alarmed. "That's not nothing." She remembered Kanan's story from the night before. He had helped her escape Order 66, but that's all he had said about that day. Sabine knew it had to have been about that. "What happened," she asked again.
"Sabine," Hera snapped. "She doesn't have to talk about it if she doesn't want to."
"No, it's alright," Aleckina decided warily. "I was a student of Master Depa Bilaba. So was Kanan. Order 66 had just been put in place. An older Jedi told me to run, to escape. A clone trooper shot me in the leg and cornered me. If Kanan hadn't found me, I'd be dead."
"I'm sorry," Sabine replied. "I shouldn't have asked. It was none of my business."
"It's ok," Aleckina answered. "You have a right to know. After all, you are helping me. I see no reason yet to not trust you."
"I'm surprised to hear you say that," Hera said. "Kanan told us you were trained against trusting anyone other than him and your master."
"I was, but Kanan seems to trust you, so I'm trying my best," Aleckina explained. "I guess you could say I'm kind of new to trusting people." She smiled wryly at the words, and the older girls smiled back, a silent 'thank you' for the trust they were being given.
It was later decided that Aleckina would be sharing a room with Sabine. As long as she didn't mind the near-constant paint fumes. The girls were only two years apart and seemed to get along well.
"This," Sabine said, opening the door, "is our room."
The room had a bunk bed and seemed quite simple. Except for the fact that the walls were decorated with many paintings and graffiti art. Some of the art was anti-Empire, and some were just simple drawings, but Aleckina could tell there was a deeper meaning behind them, even of she didn't understand what.
"You're an amazing artist," Aleckina complemented.
"Thank you," Sabine smiled. "The top bunk is yours. Make yourself at home."
Aleckina nodded her thanks and Sabine left, wanting to talk to Kanan. Aleckina climbed up to her bunk and sat very still. A lot had happened and she needed to clear her mind.
...
The next few weeks passed by quickly. Aleckina seemed to be adjusting well to the new company. She had even started to grow used to Zeb's loud nature. Her injuries were healing, but the stab wound in her shoulder would take time.
The girl had even been able to help teach Ezra how to remain focussed. Not a lot, yet, but enough to speed up the boy's Jedi training a little bit. They were still working on it though. Kanan had also resumed Aleckina's training in the ways of the force. He even thought she might soon be ready to build her own lightsaber.
