The family lives in a very snowy, cold area, on the side of a mountain. About a fifteen, maybe twenty-minute walk, there's a village, covered in small bungalows with about five or six rooms.
The wooden doors would slide open to a living room, usually, a kitchen, then there would be seperate rooms for bedrooms. The people slept on the floor, with a thick duvet set down, a pillow and a thin blanket.
The women would wear long dresses that touch the ground, with long sleeves, some cuffed, rolled or bat wing style. Most of the time their long black or brown hair would be in buns on the top of their heads.
The men would wear layers, upon layers. Most of the men did 'outside' work, and the women did 'inside' work. In the sense that men would work, earn a living, so and so. And women would tend after the children, care for the garden, etc.
If a family only had daughters and the father wasn't able to work, their best bet was for the eldest daughter to parent, the mother to do the work, and wait until the eldest got married.
If a family only had sons and the mother wasn't able to work, their best bet was that their mother still did it, or did it until the father learnt how to do the basics, then wait until the eldest got married. It was unfortunate but it was how it was.
