The sound of an ambulance siren was something Jooyeon never wanted to hear again.

It never meant anything good, or else the ambulance wouldn't be needed. His life had practically ended in the ambulance when he was escorted from the police station after Jiseok attempted to kill him.

Now, here he was again. His life hanging on by a thread that was wearing quite thin.

Jooyeon's eyes fluttered open to see a frantic Seungmin above him, a paramedic to his other side. The paramedic was holding a penlight, checking for any sense of life in him.

Jooyeon's dull and half alive eyes just barely caught the light, slowly but surely following it.

"We've got movement..!" The paramedic alerted with a breathy sigh of relief.

Jooyeon groaned as he felt the paramedic's cold fingers against his neck, trying to find strength in himself to push him away.

But he just couldn't. He was far too weak.

"He's got barely a pulse, We need to get him to the hospital now!" The paramedic frantically shouted as Jooyeon's eyes moved to his best friend again.

Seungmin was sobbing. He'd never seen the boy cry so much before, it hurt his heart. Too much.

With another groan, Jooyeon's eyes fluttered shut again, the last thing he could remember hearing was Seungmin volunteering to ride with him in the ambulance.

Even everything during that and before that was such a blur. Everything he was hearing just sounded so distorted and he just barely made out what was being said.

Once Jooyeon was transported to the hospital, he was immediately taken to get his stomach pumped for the entire bottle of anxiety medicine he'd taken.

Seungmin was sent to wait in the lobby where he met up with Jungsu who had rushed to the hospital once Seungmin and Jooyeon left in the ambulance.

"He'll be okay.." Seungmin kept repeating in a whisper to himself. Just the thought of losing Jooyeon put his stomach in impossible knots.

He couldn't imagine what he would do if he was gone.

Jooyeon meant everything to him. Seungmin's heart had never ached so bad as it did in that waiting room. His head and heart filled with anxiety as with every doctor and nurse that passed through, he hoped one would be Jooyeon's to alert him that he was finally safe again.

With each passing second all Seungmin could feel was his  heart racing and aching with every breath he took. He felt so guilty being there, standing there– breathing. He didn't feel as if he deserved it when his best friend was so close to taking his last breath.

Seungmin didn't know what was going on, he was so disoriented in that lobby, fingers clinging to Jungsu's shirt as he held him and comforted him. Seungmin felt so light, like his soul wasn't even in his body anymore. He didn't feel present, just stuck in his own mind. 'He just has to be okay.' The only thought running in his head

Jungsu had never seen Seungmin in such a state. He'd been there during some quite tough times for Seungmin, but nothing had ever rattled him like this.

As he held the younger boy in his arms, he could feel his whole body shaking.

Of course he was worried about Jooyeon. But, he had to be okay. Jungsu was much more sure of it whereas Seungmin's fear of losing Jooyeon completely took over him and his emotions.
