Adaline's POV

I woke up from bed this morning and I decided to go hunting. I didn't drink human blood very often. I had a very strong sense of self control, so I could pivot back and forth from animal to human blood. Since was staying in such a small town I needed to hunt animals.

After I was finished I went back to my house. I jumped when I saw Stefan walking around my living room.

I opened the door. "Stefan, what are you doing here?"

"I came to visit. I'm impressed. This home suits you well" He said with a smile.

"Thanks" I blushed.

His smile gave me butterflies. Stop. Don't think about that.

"I had completely forgotten about this picture" He whispered.

I walked over to where he was and I looked at which picture he was referring to. I was a picture of me and him at the Founders party. We were dancing, gazing into each other's eyes. I smiled at the memory but he looked somewhat pained. As if something was bothering him.

"Adaline?" He asked.

"Hmm?"

"Did you ever find someone else?"

"What do you mean?" I questioned.

"Did you ever move on? Find someone you liked?" He asked.

" Well, no." I blushed slightly. "Never"

"Why?" He asked me.

"Well. Because I had already loved someone." I replied.

Stefan's POV

"Well. Because I had already loved someone." she replied.

I knew the answer to who it was. Me. I knew that she had fancied me, but hearing her say that she loved someone made my heart race. She touched my hand and everything went into a frenzy. Feelings came rushing back. Watching her dance, being jealous when someone else approached her. I.

I like her.

There was no denying that now. It was like I was suddenly snapped out of a trance that I've been in for years. I've spent all of this time denying any feeling towards her, when I had liked her all along. Something shifted. I no longer liked Elena as much as I liked Adaline.

I loved Adaline.

And she needed to know.

"Adaline. Who was this person?" I asked her. I turned to look into her eyes. Her brown ones met mine and suddenly I knew that after all this time she loved me back.

"You" she whispered.

I stepped closer towards her. I cupped her face in my hands and held her gaze.

"All this time. All this time I was fooling myself. Adaline it was you. It's always been you. You're marvelous and I'm so sorry that I couldn't fully see that. If only I had seen it sooner. I love you, Adaline Elizabeth Clark. If I had seen it sooner you wouldn't have pushed yourself to be a vampire, I wouldn't have died. We could've grown old together and had children. Oh Adaline I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. I-" I was suddenly cut off by her lips as they crashed onto mine.

Adaline's POV

I couldn't take it anymore. Him blaming himself for all of this. I did what I've been craving to do my whole life. I kissed him. And he kissed me back.

At first it was soft and delicate. A kiss that should've brought me to my knees. It was so careful yet loving. That was when I knew. He loved me, and I loved him. Nothing will tear us apart. I deepened the kiss, tracing my tongue along his canines. He growled and pulled me closer. I could feel my soul attaching to his. I couldn't get away from him. I could only sink deeper. He was my soul mate, we could both feel it. Our minds were intertwined. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me upstairs and set me down gently on the bed. We finally broke away from the kiss. His eyes were eccentric. They glowed with love.

I smiled at him "Stefan none of this is your fault. I love you"

"Oh Ad, I love you too" He replied back.

We held each other there for a few hours. Stefan asked me if I wanted some dinner. And how could I refuse his cooking?

"Sure" I replied with a smile.

He gave me a peck on the lips and headed downstairs to fix dinner. I laid back onto my bed in complete bliss. I was his and he was mine. Finally.
