I frown crept on my lips as I realized that I had no clue where anything really was. I had made it to town but it was all so different. Buildings had been torn down and replaced by new ones. Well duh. It's been 150 years. I continued to one of the places that I had hoped would remain. Alas, it has. Lockwood Manor.
The first Founders Party was held here back in 1862.
"You look absolutely stunning Ms. Clark."
"Oh Mr. Salvatore you're too kind. Please, call me Adaline."
I held Stefan's gaze as he held out his hand and helped me out of the carriage. He had graciously asked me to the Founders Party and who could refuse Stefan Salvatore? Not I. We walked up to the front porch where we were greeted by Mr. Lockwood.
"Ms. Clarke, Mr. Salvatore, always nice to see you. Thank you for coming, please do come in."
"Thank you Mr. Lockwood" I replied and I stepped over the threshold.
I shook my head at the memory. That was a wonderful night. But I didn't want to relive it just yet. I continued driving around until I stopped in front of a school. Mystic Falls High School. I had enrolled here as a senior to hopefully get a fresh start in my life. I still had about a week before the first day. I left the parking lot and continued to drive into town.
It was beautiful. Black Walnut trees lined the square. Flowers lined the triangle dividers, and the streets were filled with shops, restaurants, and a beautiful park in the center. Even though these buildings have changed I still recognize most of it. One restaurant caught my eye. It was called the Grill. I parked in the front and decided to go in for a light lunch. I entered and the place wasn't too crowded. A sandy blonde headed man looked at me from behind the bar.
"Choose a seat wherever you'd like, I'll be with you in a moment!"
I nodded and found a seat against the window that overlooked the street.
The man walked over to me and said "Hi, my name is Matt and I'll be your server. Can I get you anything to drink?"
"A water will be fine" I replied. He smiled at me and said "Coming right up!"
Matt had gorgeous blue eyes, and he looked like a genuine type of guy. As he walked away I took a look at the menu and decided what I wanted to eat. Not that I really had to eat human food, but I felt like it was a fun human experience. I decided to try to do more human things since I will be trying to fit in around this town. If the council (which I presume is still in operation) hears wind of a vampire in the town it'll be 1864 all over again.
Matt came back and took my order and left to go take it to the kitchen. After 10 minutes he came back with one of my favorite things of all time. A grilled cheese sandwich. I could eat these all day. I ate my sandwich and asked for the check.
Matt brought my change back and hovered for a moment. "I haven't seen you around town, are you new here?"
"Yeah, I just moved here from Bracciano, Italy. I'm going to be a senior at Mystic Falls high school." I replied.
"Wow! Italy huh? That's pretty cool! And hey I go to MFHS too, maybe I'll see you around! What's your name?" He asked. "Adaline" I replied.
"Well it was nice meeting you, but I have to go back to work. See you around?" He asked. "Sure!" I replied. I gave him a small smile and exited the Grill. I hopped in my car and began driving to my new home.
