Chapter 3: Follow The Path

Suddenly a single tear fell into Yoriichi's forehead. Yoriichi stopped holding. Looking at his sister who's now crying. 'Nii-san...Nii-chan...I'm sorry, I'm so sorry' Her tears keep flowing unstop.

Yoriichi felt someone getting closer and they were fast.

He then with his full strength rolled them all to the side, resulting in a cut of his hair by a sword. They're now rolling in the snow and Yoriichi's back hit the trees behind him, his hand still grabbing the hatchet. Tanjiro's start to get up and look at the man.

'Who is that?..' Tanjiro thought. Yoriichi tried to protect Nezuko. Tanjiro then looked at his hand 'Katana...'

"Why are you protecting it?" The man started to speak.

"She's our sister." Yoriichi answered, glaring at the man. But then Nezuko tried to run away but failed as her brother's grip was strong.

"...You call that thing your sister?" The man asked bluntly. The man then starts to launch himself at Yoriichi, but Yoriichi was fast enough to dodge him and start running away from the man. The man's eyes widened as the boy could dodge him.

"TANJIRO, RUN" Yoriichi told him, Tanjiro quickly ran away.

The man starts to run after Yoriichi. When he tried to grab him, it always failed as Yoriichi dodge every move. Yoriichi tried to get away from the slayer but as he looked forward, he saw Tanjiro and they're forehead collide. Yoriichi almost lost his balance. Tanjiro starts to panic as his brother almost loses his consciousness. "N-NII-SAN, I'M SO SORRY!! I DON'T SEE YOU THERE!!" Tanjiro started repeatedly apologising to his brother.

'God, your forehead really is from Oka-san, just as strong as a rock, maybe even stronger than a damn rock.' When he gains his self consciousness, Yoriichi looks at his hand and there's no Nezuko. Nezuko growled as the man held Nezuko with his left hand, and held his sword on his right.

"Don't move" Then a wind blew before them. Tanjiro watched with fear in his face and Yoriichi just glared at the man.

"My job is to slay demons, needless to say, I'm going to decapitate your sister"

"H-Hold on, Nezuko hasn't killed anyone! Back at my house, there was another scent that I'd never smelled before! That's probably the one who killed my family! W-We don't know how she turned into something like this" Tanjiro said, panicking.

"It's quite simple. Because her wounds were exposed to demon blood, she turned into a demon, that's how man-eating multiply" The slayer said bluntly.

"Nezuko will never eat a human." Yoriichi said

"You must be kidding. Just now, you were about to be devoured" The slayer said.

"You're wrong! I'm sure she knows who Nii-san is!" Tanjiro tried to defend his brother.

"I won't let her eat them. I swear I'll heal her." Yoriichi tried to convince the slayer.

"You can't heal a demon. Once you become a demon, you can never go back to being human." The slayer said.

"Then I'll find a way to heal her and kill the one who turned everyone into a demon" Yoriichi said. He didn't show it, but he was shocked with his choice of words. How he will kill the progenitor demon if he doesn't know how.

"Don't make me laugh, you will be the one who killed the demon progenitor?" The slayer said. As he is ready to cut Nezuko's head.

"PLEASE STOP, DON'T KILL HER!!" Tanjiro cried

"Don't take anyone else from me." Yoriichi said, then bow down. Tanjiro looked at his brother before following him. For a moment they were like that. Tanjiro's body trembling while begging for the slayer to not kill his sister. This makes the slayer angry and click his tongue.
