Unfortunately, it is 8:30 in the goddamn morning. My head pounds from being up so early knowing I get up at this time every single day but I'm normally late to my own job when I remind myself it's my company.
Still, I need some ibuprofen for my headache that currently keeps me from even walking but here I am attempting to power walk my way through Smith Tech and thankfully succeeding.
I make my way to the front office noticing a lady with a name tag having messy handwriting stating, "Shelly," ew the name gives me major middle school flashbacks from the bitch in the principal's office. That hoe always lied to get me detention.
Moving on from bitchy Shelly's I approach the desk where she seems to be looking at the computer screen in front of her typing away.
"Hello," I approach the lady with a pleasant nice tone or I at least hope it's nice considering I'm still in my morning voice. I clear my head as her head pops up towards me resting her chin on the palm of her hand, "I'm a friend of Scarlett so if you don't mind me going up?" I ask. She looks up at me studying me, "That's fine as long as you're a friend," she mumbles.
I smile at her heading towards the elevator as other people stand in the elevator as well.
The elevator makes a small ding noise as other people make their way out the elevator and I press the top floor, Scarlett's office. Come to think of it why the hell are so many people here? I mean isn't this place making technology shouldn't it be a manufacturer instead?
Oh well, I'm just a journalist truly so I really couldn't care less. Then again this would make a good story.
I can just see the headline, "Scarlett Smith Not As Eco-Friendly As We Thought?" in big bold black letters. Nonetheless, I don't think I could be able to write an article like that considering our first article was about Scarlett people will think it's a dumb publicity stunt in an attempt to lie in order to turn America's sweetheart into America's bitch.
The elevator after what seems to be a million years finally dings open allowing me to walk into the top floor.
I see workers walking around some in lab coats for whatever reason. I approach a woman with a pixie cut asking her, "Hello, do you know where Scarlett Smith's office is?" The woman nods pointing in the direction of the door withholding Scarlett's office.
I nod giving her a thank you as I walk toward the door standing in front of it. The door was almost a pearly white as was almost everything else in the office. I knock on the door as I step in.
The room was a modern design. A soft-looking black couch on the left with a white couch on the right. The colors go back and forth in the room. I look in awe before hearing a squeal coming from Scarlett.
"Oh-em-gee! Lia, I'm so happy you're here we have plenty to talk about!" Scarlett exclaims in a very cheerful voice. I make a confused look before I can stop myself as she goes between the two couches and the beautiful glass table in the middle of them slipping her arm between mine.
I look down at my arm confused as I feel one of my eyebrows go up.
"Uh," I say as she has that same cheerful smile on walking me around the couches towards her desk. She releases her arm from mine as she goes to sit down.
I sit down in front of her smiling a bit at her. "Now, after what had happened a few days ago I figured you'd wanna talk," she pauses allowing me to speak.
I simply nod my head in response as she continues, "Look, maybe you've seen the articles about me being extremely eco-friendly and I apologize for the other day and what I did," she says in an attempt to be sorry.
Like one of those lame influencers apologizing. I roll my eyes at her statement as the woman continues, "I understand it was bad and I was just so in my head. Believe me when I say I would never lie about this. When it happened I panicked and ran. I'm truly sorry Lia," she says sorrowfully.
"Look Scarlett I won't judge you-" I stop myself before speaking rethinking on what to say. I will judge her but then again it's not my business so I decide to tell her exactly that.
"I won't judge you that much if what you say to the public is a lie, as long as my name isn't in the mess and you don't lie to me we're good Scarlett," she looks down playing with her hands as she nods.
She bites her lip before she mumbles, "Thank you," and I make my way out into my own office.
I decide to check how my office is doing and considering it is right near Smith Technologies. As I'm walking up to the front I'm met with a familiar face the one of a man named Trevor.
I turn to him smiling as I open the door. He smiles back staring into my eyes, "Hola Trevor," I tell him walking towards the elevator.
"Cómo estás Lia?" He responds. "Eh I'm okay if I'm being honest," He raises an eyebrow, "What's wrong?" He asks following me into the elevator.
I hesitate debating whether or not to tell him. I decide not to and just come up with a lie, "Nothing just been a mediocre day," he hums in response as we make our way into my office.
My stomach growls from not eating at all today as I sit down at my desk and he sits down across from me.
"Hungry?" I nod looking down. "Do you wanna get food? Wait aren't you supposed to be off today?" My eyes widen as I attempt to avoid the question by not responding.
"Maybe," I answer after a few seconds. "You know Ms. Rose-" I cut him off. "Lia, you can call me Lia," I smile at him as he smiles back, "Okay, Lia you might wanna give yourself a break from time to time the company has only been out for a week or two."
I nod agreeing with his statement as I stand up from my desk, "You're right Trevor," I pause for a second.
"Would you like to go eat with me? Breakfast on me?" I question him. He smiles nodding as we walk out to go eat.
