Wren's POV
"Are you frickin kidding me?" I yell at Ryan. It's 9:00 on our 15th morning in Boston. Ryan decided to use my toothbrush because he lost his. I go to grab his neck but Mason holds me back.
"You can get another one. Is this really worth going to your uncle's farm?" As Mason whispers it in my ear a chill goes down my spine.
I stop the struggle and give Ryan a death glare. I use my sisters until I get a new one. I get dressed and put my hair is a high ponytail, making a small bump in my hair and curling the rest of my hair. I can't stop thinking about the way I felt when Mason whispered.
"Wren? You coming?" Matthew calls.
"Yea, be right there."I fix my makeup before running into the living room.
"Wait, so what are we doing?" I ask.
"Going shopping." Kate states.
"Why? We already got all the souvenirs." I ask.The rest look at each other like I'm stupid.
"The cotillion." Ryan says, talking to me like I'm some idiot.
I look at them confused but then I remember. Cape Cod always has a cotillion for the teenagers; tourists and residents. We all leave and go to the towns dress shop.
"What about this one?" Kate asks holding up a god-awful bright green ball gown.
I can't help but laugh.
"You know, I think I'll pass."
She giggles and we continue looking. After a few hours I find the perfect gown. Kate gets a navy blue gown with silver heels. Then we go to the tuxedo shop for the guys. Michael tries on a lavender suit and I laugh.
"What?" He asks smiling.
I remember I am mad at him and I glare. He scoffs and goes back in. After a while all the guys have their suites.
"We are going to be the best looking people there." Kate laughs.
"Yes, we are." Matthew says kissing her.The rest of us yelp and whistles. They laugh and we continue walking around downtown.
"Can we get some ice cream?" I ask.
Everyone argues but I give them my puppy dog face. Like always, my cuteness wins and we go into the shop.
"Can I get-
"One strawberry scoop, one chocolate, a drizzle of fudge and some peanuts."Michael smirks and I can't hold back the smile that spreads on my face. I nod and the lady starts making it.
"How did you know that?" I ask once I have the cone in my hand.
"Ice cream day in third grade." He smiles.I remember that day. It was one out of the very few days that Michael wasn't avoiding me.
"Hey, can we talk?"
Michael's POV
Wren nods and walks away with Mason. And just like in eighth grade, Kathwren giggles and shouts yes. The two hug and I stare at them, wide eyed."You asked her to the cotillion didn't you?" I ask him.
He nods and smiles like the idiot he is. I scoff and walk away. We all start the walk home. Wren is talking with her sister about how the cotillion will be the best its ever been.
"You don't like her do you?" Mason asks.
"Of course not!" I shriek. He nods and pats my back.
"I just didn't want to be stepping onto anyone's property." He chuckles.
"You're not. And by the way she isn't property." I snap.He seems surprised and apologizes. I shake my head and walk away from him. We get home and I hang up my tux. I'm not even sure if I want to go now. Everyone will have a date but me. I sigh looking at the suit. There is a knock on my door and I turn around. Wren is standing in the door way.
"Hi." I say shocked.
"Can we talk?" She asks.I nod and she sits on my bed.
"Why did you do it?" She asks.
"What do you mean?"
"The note." She whispers.I sigh and shake my head.
"I don't know, Ryan told me to get out my feelings on a note. Then I could get out how I feel without hurting others." I shrug.
She nods like she is taking it in.
"Do you mind that I am going with Mason?" She blurts.
"No." I say simply.
"Then, I hope you have fun. You know, find your perfect girl and what not." She chuckles nervously. She leaves and I regret my answer. I should've said yes. But, I don't like her. Or do I?
I am so sorry I haven't updated in a few days! I'm also sorry that thus chapter is so sucky. The next chapter will be better. Thanks for reading!
