Chapter 4: Don't Talk

Wren's POV
It's been a few days since Ryan got up here and Michael has tried to apologize for him a few times. I always say the same thing, if Ryan doesn't apologize than what is the point of having anyone do it. On our 6th day in Boston, we all decide to go on a double family outing. Luckily because Ryan isn't part of either family, he stays home. We are walking down the pier when an old man starts play a saxophone. He was playing Rockin Robin by Bobby Day.

"I know this song!" I giggle.
"Do you remember when we used to put on shows for mom and dad?" Kate asks me.

I nod and start humming.

"He rocks in the tree tops all day long, hoppin and a boppin and singing his song. All the little birdies on Jaybird St. Love to hear the Robin go tweet tweet tweet." Kate starts.
"Rockin Robin, rockin robin, go rockin robin cause we're really gunna rock tonight." I sing as she does the background singing.

We laugh and everyone claps.

"Why thank you!" I say taking a bow.

We continue our journey down the pier.

"Wren can we talk?" Michael says coming up to me.
"I don't know. Are you going to call me a stalker and then tell everyone?" I ask.

He sighs and messes with his hair.

"Look, I wanted to apologize again."
"Well you can give it a rest. Isn't this what you wanted? For me to leave you alone? Well, you got your wish. Don't talk to me ever again."

Michael's POV
As she walks up to her family, I watch her. I feel guilty and I don't know why. This is what I wanted. I remember when she first started stalking me. It was my first day at school.

I was walking down the hallway when a girl screams my name.

"Michael Jamison? Is that you?"

I turned around and Kathwren is running towards me. She hugs me and I stiffen up.

"Leave me alone." I mumble, pushing her away.
"Come on. I'll show you our class." She said, either ignoring the comment or not having heard it.

As the day went on people started asking if she was my girlfriend. Of course I said no, I barely even knew this girl. She continued to try to hold my hand and hug me. She even kissed my cheek that day before she got into her mothers car. I had been grossed out. When I got home she was waiting for me. I remember thinking 'oh no, it's Kathwren.'

As I stand here now, I don't feel that way. In a way I want her to go back to stalking me. My brother taps me on the shoulder and I jump a little.

"You alright?" He asks.
"No, Mason, I'm not."

He looks at me concerned and I shake my head.

"Yea, man. I'm fine. There's just a lot on my mind."

He ruffles my hair and walks ahead of me. The rest of the day I watch Wren from a distance. I watch her laugh and make jokes with everyone else I feel jealous. By bed time, I am more than happy to close my eyes and forget the world.
