"I want to join the Battlefield." You tell your parents.
Their faces had changed drastically from before. Father's face became wrinkled and red with rage while your mother had burst into tears.
"What are you saying!? War is far too dangerous for you! I can't bear the thought of you going to such a dangerous place!!" Your mother wailed. 'If you can't bear the thought of sending me to war, then why sacrifice Deon..' You thought. You know your mother is a kind soul, or at least you hope so, but you can't help but hate and blame her a little... Though you mostly blame Father.
"Listen to me!! I'm much stronger than you think, so I should be allowed to go! As Deon's older sister, I should be out there to protect him!" You shout.
"ENOUGH!" Father screamed, making you and Mother go silent.
"YOU WILL DO NO SUCH THING AND THAT IS FINAL! YOU ARE THE YOUNG LADY OF THIS HOUSE AND YOU WILL ACT LIKE IT!" Father screamed. It seemed mother and him had no plans to let you go no matter how much you begged, figures.
"What do you mean protect him? What happened to Deon?" Mother asks. You give her a shocked look then glare at Father. 'This fucking bastard was the real villain huh?' Father flinches from the intensity of your stare.
"Nothing. I'm sure you'll hear the news soon enough." You scowled as you stormed out of their room. Now, don't get it wrong, you're not done with this matter, nowhere near it. You still have one more trick up your sleeve. After all, if your only trick was begging, then you'd be a fool who'd already be dead.
FATHER POV:
"That brat, how dare she try to neglect her duties as the young lady of this house!" I grumble. "Dear, I think you were a little too harsh, Cordelia just wants to be a good older sibling." My wife quietly states.
"But I'm worried about what she was talking about." She furrowed her brows. "It's probably nothing. You know how she tends to overthink." I sigh. "And you're right." I look at the door. "I should've been nicer. But I just can't stand the thought of our children going somewhere so dangerous." I explain. "I know, me too." She gives me a hug, and I smile softly. "I'll be sure to apologize at dinner." I state.
Y/N POV:
'Okay.. I got this. It'll be a piece of cake.. Probably...' At the moment, you're at the edge of your windowsill with a rope made of curtains in your hand. 'Everyone in those fanfics do it easy peasy. I'll be fineeeeee, and plus, if I die, at least I was able to see a cute Deon.' You stealed your resolve.
You slowly and carefully climb out of the window and down the mansion. 'Phew, I did it!' You silently cry in victory.
'Don't worry, I'm coming!!'
DEON POV:
'I CAN'T STOP WORRYING!! I'M GONNA DIE!!!!' I think.
I'm almost to the battlefield, and I can't calm down! 'I can only wield a dagger! Swords are too heavy!' I panic.
Y/N POV:
You stole one of your family's horses in order to get there faster. Deon should be at the camp by now.
You plan to join Deon on the battlefield by appearing out of nowhere and just enlisting there. If they don't want to let you in, you'll just use your title... or something.
'I finally made it!' You cry out in relief.
You had unfortunately faced some... Difficulties trying to locate the Empires troops..'And would you look at that. They're fighting.' You think as you prepare your blow darts and throwing knives. Like Deon, you have ZERO talent in wielding a sword. So you use more modern weapons.
Finally ready, you jump out of the trees and slash the bastards about to kill Deon. You suppose you should count this as your first true mission in protecting Deon. 'I need to kill all of these bastards so I can protect him.' You faintly smile.
"Don't worry, I'm here." You say to Deon. He looks beyond shocked, you'd love to hug him, but you need to deal with the bugs first.
You threw one of your knives at the throat of an enemy close to the captain. Only then did the captain notice your presence. It was safe to say he was confused, but he focused on fighting. You do the same and continue to kill as many as you can. Thank the Gods you're used to seeing blood.
"Come on! Try me bitches!" You taunt with a condescending smirk. Okay, so maybe you were enjoying this a teenie bit. But that's it!
After the battle had finished with our victory. The captain approached you with a hardened gaze. "You... Who are you and why are you here?" He asks. "Cordelia Hardt. Here for my brother. Couldn't just leave him to die now could I?" You stated blatantly, pointing to Deon who was getting patched up at a nearby bench behind you.
You sighed when you saw the distrust in his eyes.
"Look, I may be young, but I guarantee I can be of great help. I have experience with many different weapons such as daggers and blowguns. My smarts aren't anything to laugh at either, If you'd allow me to, I will lead the Empire to victory." You added. Trying your best to look like anything other than what you actually felt. Pure. Anxiety. "If you can't trust my words, trust my actions. It's your choice, enlist me, and I'll become your most useful tool. A killing machine to turn the tides." You held your hand out for him to shake.
His eyes widen for a moment before going back to normal. "You're brave. I'll give you that." He began. "You can join, but if you even show a hint of suspicion, I will cut you down immediately." He said as he walked away, ignoring your outstretched hand.
"Sister!" Deon wails as he tackles you into a hug. "Are you ok!? You were amazing!! What were you thinking!?" He shouts in worry and amazement.
"I'm fine, how are you? Are you hurt?" You ask calmly.
He tears up and hugs you tightly, saying he's alright. You smile and hug him back as you both cry tears of relief now that you're together again.
DEON POV:
I thought it was the end for me, I thought I was going to die. But then I saw something unbelievable, Sister was here on the battlefield, protecting me from danger. I was so shocked, she actually came for me...
'Sister... You didn't abandon me!' I thought in relief and slowly picked up my sword.
'I have to help Sister, even if it's just a bit...' I thought as I began to take down as many people as I could. When it was over, I ran as fast as I could to my twins' side, halfway to her, I was stopped by one of the doctors to get myself treated. When I saw the captain approaching her, I was terrified. I was about to attack him till I heard the words of my twin who was not far in front of me.
"Look, I may be young, but I guarantee I can be of great help. I have experience with many different weapons such as daggers and blowguns. My smarts aren't anything to laugh at either, If you'd allow me to, I will lead the Empire to victory." She said calmly with determination.
'Sister is willing to do all this for me?' I really shouldn't be surprised, ever since we were little, Sister was always there to help me and keep me company in our lonely home. Sister trained me to protect myself, Sister always made sure I knew my self-worth.
'I've made my decision, no matter what, I'll be with Sister till I die. I'll make sure Sister has everything she wants when I have more power. I'll give her the most comfortable life!' I thought.
