"Come onnnnn!~ Can't we explore just a little more?" You fake pout. "We can do it later, Mother and Father are waiting." Cruel replies.

'Fuck! Why does our estate have to be so far from the palace!? Deon's probably not even halfway there!!' Your smile strains slightly as you think about it.

"Cordelia? Are you not telling me something?" Cruel asks warily. You internally flinch but fight to keep your composure on the outside.
"What would I have to hide from you? Is it a crime for me to want to spend time with my older brother after being separated for so long?" You say calmly.

"Don't lie to me. What's wrong? Are y- "

"Sir Cruel!" Someone calls out. You both turn to see a male servant approaching. He bows once he's in front of you two. "My apologies for the sudden intrusion on your conversation. The Emperor requests your presence immediately." Cruel nods and turns to you.

"We'll discuss this once we're back home. Wait for me in the garden." He pats your head and follows the servant. You nod and head back to the garden.

'Why do I get the feeling something just went terribly wrong?' You shake that thought off and continue on your merry way.

CRUEL POV:

I pat Cordelia's head once more before following the butler. The walk is silent as my gut churns. 'This butler... Doesn't work at the palace.' I pull my sword out of it's seath and point it towards his throat.

"Who are you and who do you work for? You have 10 seconds to respond." I threaten.

"I don't think there'll be any need for that." A certain approaching man says. "I assure you that I mean no harm. I simply wish to talk." He smiles.

"Duke Illuster, for what reason did you call me here." I glare at the man. "Why, I already told you, no? I just want to talk." He replies. "The real reason." I demand.

"Hmm, fine. Since you won't believe me I'll just say this, you've been betrayed." He says. "What nonsense -!"

"It's true. Deon Hart had requested to eradicate his entire family, including you." He continued on. "Didn't it seems suspicious that your sister was trying so desperately to keep you here? She knows about Deons request, that's why. She wanted to stall you so Deon could finish off your parents." I try to refute, but the words don't leave my mouth.

'She couldn't of, right? There's no way he'd..' Duke Illuster smiled wickedly at Cruel's shock. "If you still doubt me, why not check it for yourself?" He whispers to me before walking away.

"Dammit." I whisper through gritted teeth. I run out of the palace as fast as I could.
"Master Cruel! Where are you going!?" My servant calls out. "Home." I answer before grabbing my horse and setting off.

'Deon.. Cordelia... Just what happend on the battlefield for both of you to resort to this?' I feel regret course through me as I think about it more.

Y/N POV:

"I wonder if Deon's made it back home yet? Ah, I guess that's not necessarily our home anymore, huh? Eh, we'll probably just live with Dad till we get our own estate." You grin at the thought.

"Miss Hart?" A voice asked. "Ah, your highness, I didn't notice you were here as well. My apologies." You bow. "No need for formalities, you're my fiancé and this empire's crown princess. Your standing is equal to mine." He says.

You freeze for a moment. "I'm afraid I don't quite know what you mean, your highness. I don't remember ever getting engaged." He chuckles. "It seems my Uncle didn't tell you yet. As soon as word spread of our victory, my uncle sent a formal request for our engagement. Your parents agreed happily. So that makes you, my crown princess." He ends his explanation by gently grabbing your hand and placing a kiss on top of it.

'So that question about whether or not I'd want to marry the prince was becauSe I wAS ALREADY ENGAGED TO HIM!?' You grit my teeth. "When is the wedding..?" You ask hesitantly. "Hm? Oh! It's next spring! Isn't that wonderful? The flowers will be in full bloom on our wedding day!" He exclaims.

'Okay, I got until next spring to fix this.' You smile. "As enjoyable as this conversation was, I'd best be on my way now. I've kept my family waiting much too long." You curtsy and zoom out of there.

'I'm gonna kill that bastard!' Your face flushes red in anger. The prince noticed your flushed ears, and a misunderstanding arose.

'She must've been embarrassed. How cute.' He chuckles softly and heads in the opposite direction.

"Where the hell am I? Ugh! This place is too big!" You complain as you wander around aimlessly. "I should've stayed with the prince and asked him to escort me outside.." You sigh.

"Seems that you're lost." A voice says. "Indeed I am. So, to what do I owe this pleasure? Duke Illuster." You turn around to face him. "How perceptive, you knew it was me just from my voice? I'm flattered."

"Cut the crap. What do you want?" You ask, dropping all formalities. You see his smile strain. "I just thought I'd give you a warning." He said.

"Oh? And what about?" You ask. "Cruel left awhile ago." Those words shook you to the core. "He seemed to be in quite a bit of a rush. I wonder why?" He grins. 'Of course. He must've told Cruel under the guise of the Emperor's summoning. I should've known.' Your fists clench.

'I almost forgot about the fact the the Duke supported Cruel, guess this means I'll have to tread lightly.' You sigh. "What's wrong? Did I say something upsetting? You look quite pale." He asks in a fake concerned voice.

'Does he really think I'm that stupid? As if I'd take such an obvious bait.' You glance at the servant hiding around the corner. 'Hmm, might as well make this a bit fun.' You smirk.

"You're too kind. Before worrying about me, you should worry about yourself!" You chirp. His smile twitches as he looks at you confused. "Oh? And why is that?" He asks.

"Because." You pull your dagger out. "You're messing with someone who could ruin you faster than you can run." You smile. "To threaten me in the imperial palace. I don't know whether you're dumb or brave?" He scoffed.

"Neither. I'm insane." Your dagger rubs against his throat. "You're smart, I'll give you that." You lean in to his ear. "But not smart enough." You remove your dagger from his neck and push him down.

"Ugh! Why y-!" You stomp your foot dangerously close to his 'sacred' part. He flinches. "Next time you try to play this bullshit with me, I'll make sure this whole world knows who truly killed the first prince." You threaten.

"With what proof?" He scowls. "I don't need any. Everyone will believe the words of the Crown Princess, won't they?" You grin mischievously. "You couldn't possibly be saying that -" He stops mid-sentence.

"Oh, but I am! I'm the War Hero who has become the next in line to the seat of the Empress. Who would dare go against that? Of course this can all stay under wraps, all you have to do is keep your schemes and your dogs away from me and Deon." You smirk.

You walk off to another random direction. 'This was exciting, I'll make sure to tell Deon about this fun trip later.' With that thought you rush back to the estate.(after you finally found a maid who pointed you in the right direction.)

This is just a filler chapter to explain what was happening with Cruel and Karma while Deon went to kill their parents. Kinda like a prequel chapter in a way? Yeah.

THAT'S ALL! BYYYYEEEE!!
