"You're actually just here because I was bored." Peter shrugged, taking another bite of food.

"Excuse me?" Hook's voice was so low and sounded so angry it made Peter shiver. "What do you mean with that?"

Peter swallowed nervously; why was Hook so upset all of a sudden? "I... I was bored and I wanted someone to fight with. I had seen you around on Earth and figured you were the perfect toy for me so I-"

"What?!" the pirate snarled, getting up and knocking various things over, including the wine that tainted the pale cloth underneath them. "Toy?! You brought me here on purpose?!"

"Why are you complaining?" Peter asked a bit annoyed, getting up as well. "You get to have what no one else does! You get to live in Neverland and fight with me! You have the life everyone wants!" Why was Hook so annoyed at this? They had a lot of fun together, didn't they?

"What everyone wants?!" Hook yelled angrily, taking a menacing step towards him, crushing all the food plates and everything he stepped on. "What kind of retarded imbecile are you?! This isn't what I want! I never wanted to be here! How dare you kidnap me and force me to live this nightmare, you degenerated cretin!"

Peter stumbled back against the railing of the ship, backing away from the threatening man whose earlier beautiful blue eyes acquired their red glow that indicated he was ready to murder someone.

"But, but..." Peter stuttered in confusion. "You get to be forever young. Forever a pirate. Isn't that good?"

"No!" Hook snarled furiously. "I don't want to be a pirate forever! I don't want to be forever trapped in this hell with you!" The man lifted his right arm with the hook attached to it, and even though Peter wanted to fly away, he found himself rooted to the ground. For the first time, he felt guilty about having brought Hook here. Sure he knew that the man wanted to go back to Earth – he had made it very clear – but Peter had ignored it with the excuse that Hook should consider himself lucky.

Though he expected the man to sink his hook into him, Hook suddenly paused, lowering his hand as the red from his eyes subdued and he took a step back. "You really are just a foolish child," he said quietly.

Peter wanted to object at the insult, but Hook's eyes were filled with such sadness that it took his breath away. What had he done...?

Without another word, Captain Hook went down the stairs and quietly disappeared into his cabin while Peter was trying to figure out what had happened. Everything had been going fine... Hook was a pirate – he was supposed to be angry and willing to fight all the time, wasn't he? That was all pirates did, wasn't it? That's why he had brought him here so many years ago...
But then he had to think about the more recent things he had learned about Hook; there was a lot more to him than just fighting and being angry... Had he really made a mistake? But he never made mistakes!
But then why was he so upset at the pain he saw in the man's eyes?

Confused and miserable, he looked around at the mess their dinner had become after Hook had trampled all over it. It looked just as jumbled and awful as Peter felt. His mind was flooded with the conversation he'd had with Hook after he returned from Earth the last time; Hook had also been angry and hurt, wanting nothing more than to go home. Should he let him?
The shocking truth was that he really wanted to let him go; he hated seeing him like this and just wanted him to be happy. But if he let Hook go, he himself would be alone in Neverland... And he really didn't want to be alone and bored and... most of all he didn't want to stop being part of Hook's life. The thought of never seeing him again filled him with an incredible sense of longing that made his chest hurt.
