James desperately tried to concentrate on his sense of morality and reason that kept telling him he was only doing this in order to get out of Neverland; he was just using Pan's feelings to his advantage; he hated doing this because it was wrong in every possible way; if he would have any other options to go home, he would rather use those; and that incredible feeling he had was only due to the magic of Neverland. However, no matter how much he tried to stay on the ground, he slowly felt his body lose all its weight while Pan's tantalizing tongue hungrily explored his mouth.

In an attempt to regain his senses, James pulled away a few inches and opened his eyes, but came face to face with Pan's radiant green eyes that didn't help him at all in that moment. Did they always shine so unrealistically? They looked like a starry night sky in the most beautiful shade of green.

Why were they still flying? They were just a foot or two off the ground, but shouldn't he be falling, like last time?

Suddenly Pan laughed, that typical Pan laugh that James hated, though right now it didn't fill him with the usual rage. Without any warning, the boy grabbed his hand and dragged him out through the window, towards the endless sky.

"Wait! Pan!" James called alarmed, instinctively tightening his grip around the boy's hand; the last time he had lost his flying ability above the ocean he had been eaten by a giant crocodile, and that memory was still rather vivid in his mind.

Pan laughed delighted, pulling him higher towards the ever-full moon. "What's the matter? I thought you always wanted to fly!"

"Uh, yeah," James mumbled, more to himself than Pan. It was true that he wanted to fly, but preferably not while holding the kid's hand or depending on him for it.

"You don't like it?" Pan asked surprised, slowly coming to a halt in midair, at least a hundred feet above the surface of the water.

"I do," James said hesitantly, wondering what would happen if Pan released his hand; it felt very weird holding it. Though it became even weirder when Pan wrapped his free hand around James' hook and held it between them, tracing his fingers over the sharp metal.

"I'm sorry," Pan suddenly mumbled, giving him an odd look.

"About what?" James asked stunned while Pan looked down at the hook attached to James' arm.

"Cutting your hand off and feeding it to that crocodile..." The boy actually looked genuinely sorry.

"Oh..." James didn't know what to say. He hadn't thought he would ever hear an apology for it, so he had no idea how to react.

Pan smiled apologetically. "I know it wasn't a fair fight. It was the first time we ever fought and I used your surprise at seeing me to my advantage because I... I had seen you fight – I knew you always fought with your right – and I was scared I wouldn't be able to fight you..." he mumbled softly while James stared at him in disbelief; had Pan seriously just admitted that he was, in fact, no match for James if he would still have his right hand?
"I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry." Pan gently pulled James' hook a bit further up between them, brushing his lips against the iron curve. Though James couldn't feel the touch – obviously – the image sent shivers up his spine. This wasn't at all what he had expected tonight; perhaps Pan wasn't just a selfish child, after all?

"It's alright," James murmured ambivalently; was it really alright? He couldn't think straight right now. He had always loathed Pan for having cut off his hand, but no matter how much he tried, he couldn't get himself to turn down the boy's apology.

Pan smiled an unusual, soft smile that James hadn't ever seen on the usually smirking boy, before he slowly leaned a bit closer with a requesting look in his eyes that told James exactly what he wanted.
Making sure not to scratch him, James carefully pulled his arm out from between them and wrapped it around the boy, pulling him closer. Pan immediately complied, winding his arms around James neck and crushing their lips together in a bruising kiss while his fingers raked through James long hair. Unlike in their previous kisses, they held each other in a tight embrace, and James tried to ignore how perfect the boy's lithe body felt in his arms and how incredible the entire situation made him feel.
Kissing Pan while floating aimlessly above the ocean was by far the most extraordinary experience he had ever had.
