The week leading up to the school dance was hectic. Everyone was buzzing with excitement, and the girls were especially excited about what they were going to wear. The boys, on the other hand, were keeping it cool and pretending they didn't care about the dance. At least, that's what they told each other.

Asher, however, couldn't help but feel nervous. This would be the first time he would be going to a school dance, and he didn't want to make a fool of himself. Luckily, he had Jake to guide him through it.

"Relax, man, it's not like the world is going to end," Jake said as they sat in class the day before the dance.

"Easy for you to say, you've been to tons of these!" Asher replied.

"Yeah, but I still get nervous sometimes. Just remember, it's all about having fun."

After school, Asher went home and started getting ready. He put on his best shirt and pants and ran a comb through his hair. As he looked at himself in the mirror, he suddenly wished he could be as confident as Jake.

When he arrived at the school gym, the place was already packed. The DJ was blasting the latest pop songs, and the dance floor was filled with students grooving to the beat. Asher could feel his heart beating faster as he searched for his friends.

"Hey, you made it!" Keith said as he saw Asher approaching.

"Of course I did. I couldn't miss this," Asher replied with a grin.

Keith was wearing a sleek black suit dress that complimented his eyes. Asher couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by how handsome he looked.

As the night went on, Asher started feeling more and more comfortable. He danced with Keith to a slow song and laughed with his friends as they goofed around on the dance floor. He even managed to strike up a conversation with Leo, who he disliked from the start, but managed to keep his words to himself.

Before he knew it, the dance was coming to an end. The DJ announced the last song, and everyone crowded onto the dance floor.

"This has been so much fun," Keith said, giving Asher a hug.

"I know, I'm glad I came," Asher replied.

As the night drew to a close, Asher realized something: he didn't need to feel nervous or intimidated. He was just as worthy of having fun and being confident as anyone else. After all, he was a boy in full bloom.
