"Liz, we have been best friends since we were like five. Please tell me I don't look like a hooker in this." Maya said looking in the stand up mirror of the room we share.

"You wanted to be a playboy bunny for the party. How can you look like a hooker? I mean yeah you aren't wearing much but a leotard with a tail attached to your butt." I laughed.

The Delta Sigma Phi boys were throwing a Halloween bash. It was open to all the sororities and fraternities on the UCLA campus. Maya and I belonged to the Delta Gamma Sorority. It was pretty much a big deal to be in one. The Delta Gammas chose us based on our grades and our athletic abilities. I was on the volleyball and track team. Maya was on track and swimming.

I had known Maya pretty much all my life. We had been best friends since the first grade. We both received track scholarships from our high school which helped us to attend UCLA. Being in a sorority had been Maya's idea and after some begging and pleading by her, I joined so she wouldn't have to join alone. This was our third year of college and second year of living in the Delta Gamma house.

"Don't forget my bunny ears. I was hoping to be a bunny this year because maybe just maybe Terrance will notice me but I don't know." Maya rolled her eyes at me.

"Maya you look like Halle Berry. You could have any guy. Why does dressing up as a bunny have to do with getting his attention? He should like you for you; not what you are wearing." I sighed.

"And just what are you going as again? Out of all the boys going to this party you wanted to wear what exactly?" Maya said laughing at me.

"I'm Robin Hood's daughter." I said reaching for my money bag purse. My costume consisted of a short green and brown dress that showed just a little cleavage but not much. My hair was straightened and I wore brown boots that were killer. I grabbed my green hat off the dresser and put it on covering the top of my red hair.

"After what happened with Mike, I'm not sure I want to start dating again so soon. He did break my heart. I'm only going to this party because of you." I half smiled.

"Mike's a jerk. You need to get back out there and have fun. You are a smart, pretty, and intelligent woman. Any guy who doesn't see that is stupid." Maya replied.

“I could say the same about you but you never take my advice.” I said causing us to both laugh.

We finished getting our makeup on and put on the finishing touches of our costumes and headed out across the street. The guys' Delta house was across the street but down a little ways from ours.

"You do realize that alcohol will be served right?" I said to Maya as we walked up the front steps of the fraternity.

"Duh. That's why I know you won't be drinking and will keep me in line if I have too many. You and your underage morals. Live a little. Besides your legal drinking birthday is creeping up." Maya shook her head.

"Ladies of Delta Gamma, it is such an honor." I heard as we walked into the house.

"Why thank you Davis." I smiled. "I don't think I have been here in forever." I said.

Davis was the man in charge of the Delta Sigma Phi house and official door greeter of the party. Not too many people knew Davis' first name because he always went by his last. This Halloween party would be his last as Davis would be graduating in May.

"You look so pretty tonight." Davis said slurring his speech and wrapping his arms around both Maya and I.

"I think someone has had a little too much to drink there." Maya and I laughed as we shook his arms off us.

"Make yourselves at home. Beer is over there to the right. Dancing to the left. Upstairs is for well, you know. I can give you a tour if you want." Davis said placing his left arm around me again.

"Um, I think I will pass." I said taking his arm off of me. "Actually, who is that guy standing near the staircase talking to those girls?" I asked hoping Davis would remember.

"I think he's been in most of our classes we have together this semester." Maya said.

"That...that is one of our new recruits. He transferred in from some other college that I can't remember at the moment. His name is Nic." Davis answered. "He is a cool dude but a little quiet. Have fun!" Davis said leaving Maya and I to mingle.

Nic was a certified hottie. He looked toned and his costume was perfect. What girl doesn't like vampires? Nic's costume made him look sexier in my eyes. He had the whole dark brown hair, messy look and I swear when he turned to notice me his eyes were a piercing green.

"Wow!" I said blushing and pulling Maya over to a corner. "Did you see him?"

"See who? I was scanning the room for Terrance." Maya said looking away from me.

"Nic, the guy Davis was talking about and the guy you said is in most of our classes. How come I have never noticed him before?" I asked.

"I think he always sits in the back behind us. It creeps me out because sometimes I think he stares at us." Maya shook her head. "Please don't like a creeper." She laughed.

"Gee Maya, I think he would be staring at the teacher and not us if he is behind us." I laughed.

"Look, I gotta bail. I am going to find my man." Maya said.

"You do that. Good luck with that." I laughed.

I glanced back at the staircase to see Nic was gone. I scanned the room I was in but he was nowhere to be found. Where did he run off to? I know this house is big but still? Please tell me he didn't take one of the bimbo girls upstairs? Was he like that? Why am I feeling this way? I don't even know him.

I found my way over to Stacy and Holly, two of my sorority sisters and chatted with them, sometimes dancing to a song we knew. I was starting to feel thirsty and I didn't want any beer so I excused myself and found my way to the kitchen.

"Get a room much?" I said to two couples making out in the kitchen. They gave me a look before leaving. I opened the fridge not surprised as there was nothing but beer all around. How did these boys eat? I shook my head as I finally found a can of cherry coke in the back.

"Need help opening that?" A familiar voice startled me.

"Mike." I said turning around.

"Wow, you look so stunning. It's a pity that you couldn't have arrived in style on my arm." Mike said.

"What and be your trophy? No thanks." I said moving past him.

"Hey! I'm not done talking to you." Mike said grabbing my right arm as I made it to the doorway where people could see.

"Mike, let go! You're hurting me!" I yelled.

"You belong with me! My parents loved you and you just let them down. We could have gotten married." Mike said.

"Mike, your drunk. We can talk about this later. Let go of me!" I said trying to pull away from Mike's grasp.

"Hey! I think the lady said to let her go!" The quiet and mysterious Nic arrived punching Mike in the face. Mike let go of me and I fell into Nic.

"Are you ok?" Nic replied.

"I am now." I half smiled.

"No one hits me and gets away with it!" Mike said lunging at Nic. Nic swiftly moved out of the way as people started to pile in around the kitchen. He grabbed Mike's right arm and swung it around his back and then slammed him against the island of the kitchen.

"I think you owe the lady an apology." Nic said still pinning Mike against the counter.

"Sor...Sorry!" Mike yelled.

"Now get out of here!" Nic said letting Mike go. He didn't look back as he pushed past me and into the crowd of people staring at what had just happened.

"Who are you?" I asked in shock at what had just happened.

"My name is Nic, your Highness." Nic replied.
