"Ok, your driving skills were alot better this time." I teased Nic after he had pulled into a parking spot at the diner.
"Come on, my skills are pro." Nic laughed as I handed him my helmet. "So the princess isn't afraid to ride on a motorcycle anymore." Nic teased.
"Don't call me that." I said feeling at ease a bit better with Nic and finally speaking up for myself. "I certainly don't act spoiled like a princess." I said storming into the diner.
"Elizabeth, wait!" Nic said catching up to me and grabbing my arm. "I'm sorry." He said as I spun around.
"That's twice tonight you have said that. Out of any names you could joke with, why that?" I asked confused.
"I don't...I don't know. Just forget it." Nic sighed.
"And here I thought that tonight was going so well." I said as I read the sign that said to sit anywhere we would like. I went for the booth next to the front door in case I felt the need to bolt but I was stopped.
"Let's take the back booth." Nic said leading me all the way to the last booth against the wall. He sat against the wall where he could see anyone who stepped into the diner. It was very weird but whatever so I sat across from him facing the wall.
"Can I get you two something to drink?" The waitress replied after we had settled into the booth and handed us our menus.
"Chocolate milkshake, please, and I'm ready to order if that's ok?" I said.
"Sure." The waitress replied.
"I want the double cheeseburger with oinion rings instead of the fries. Thank you." I smiled up at the waitress.
"And for you, sir?" She asked Nic.
"Same except just a coke instead of the shake and fries instead of the rings." Nic replied.
"I'll go put that in." Our waitress said taking off into the kitchen. I noticed that her name badge said her name was Anne.
"What are oinion rings?" Nic asked curiously and trying to break the ice between us.
"Oh, now you want to talk to me nicely." I remarked.
"Look, I said I was sorry for what I said. Please don't let that ruin a good evening." Nic sighed.
"Fine." I said shrugging my shoulders. "You have never had an oinion ring?" I asked shocked.
"Nope." Nic said staring at the current customers who had just walked in.
"It's an oinion sliced and fried. And it happens to go well with a burger and shake." I laughed.
"You ate most of the popcorn and you are still hungry?" Nic asked shocked.
"I must have a high metabolism since I work out with being on the track team I guess. Trust me, I am not one of those girls who watches what they eat to be skinny." I remarked.
"Here is your cola, and your shake. The rest of your food should be up shortly." Anne replied.
"Thank you, Anne." I said as Anne walked away with a smile that someone actually called her by her name and not m'am or waitress.
"How do you do it?" Nic asked confused.
"Do what?" I said taking a sip of my shake.
"You seem to just have this way where you make everyone in the room feel important." Nic responded.
"I guess that is a compliment." I smiled. "I don't know. I just treat everyone the way I would want to be treated I guess. Maybe my parents played a part in it too." I said.
