——graduation——
I put my cap and gown on and get both of my ultrasound pictures and put them on my cap to show off to everyone when I walk on that stage. I smile at myself in the mirror and look behind me and see Eddie staring at me in boredom. "I look dumb. I look really dumb." Eddie says showing me in his gown. I laugh and kiss his cheek.
"No you don't silly now shut up and dance with me." I wrap my arms around his neck and slow dance. Wayne walks in and takes a photo.
"Wayne really?" Eddie laughs pulling away. I laugh and hug Wayne.
"It's for the memories. My babies are graduating!" We both laugh and roll our eyes. "Now let's go!" He jumps down the hallway and clicks his heals together in the air.
We make it to school and see so many people. I laugh at Steve because he looks bald. "Not funny Henderson." He pushes my head and looks at my hat then Eddie's. "Like your caps. Sorry about the miscarriages." I nod my head and Eddie wraps his arm around my waist.
"Thanks Stevie poo." Eddie makes kissing noises making us all laugh. Robin kisses Steve on the forehead and laughs.
"Baldy." We all laugh and hug each other.
We all sit outside and i thankfully got to sit next to Eddie. The principal gives us this dumb speech then it's my turn. I stand up and walk to the stage ready to speak.
"Hello Everyone. My name is Yn Henderson..you might know me as the girl who is dating the freak or..Jason and Dustin's cousin. Anyway we all came here for a purpose, maybe to make friends..try to get into Harvard, or Yale like me, or to just live life. I chose all of those options. I moved back here in the summer and met the most amazing people. Met Eddie, Robin my best friend..connected with Steve again, and I found an amazing father figure Wayne. Most of us just hang out with people to get on their good side. But that's not what friendship is about. It's about making memories, falling in love, becoming life long friends, staying up late at night looking at playboys if we wanted, but mostly to have a family. I made a family within months, no actually I did..with Eddie. Our babies would be proud of us." Most people gasp about hearing about the miscarriages.
"That's my girl!" Eddie screams making some people laugh.
"Anywayy...I learned that you don't need people to make you happy. For instance like a dad, you don't need them..because you have your friends. I lost my mom well and my life practically ended. Then I moved out of my dads house because of my miscarriages, he was a jerk. But that's not the point. People here today will grow up and tell their kids saying hey I remember what it was like when I was your age, had parties, won basketball games, played D&D and celebrate the win of the killing of Vecna. We will grow up remembering the great memories we had here. Congratulations to the class of 86 Im sure college would be great for you..some of you." People stand up and cry due to my speech. I smile at Eddie and walk off stage. I run back to Eddie and hug him he life's my up and spins me around.
"You did amazing." He kisses my temple and we sit down. It's our turn to go up. Instead of going separately we went on stage together holding hands and showing off out caps with the ultra sounds. He dips me on stage and kisses me like we're getting married.
"That's my cousin!!!" Jason stands up and screams. I stick my tongue out at him as Eddie and I head back to our seats.
In the end we got to throw our hats and get hit in the head with most but we eventually found our caps and took the ultrasound photos off. We go back to his place and have tons of sex. We got complaints by grouchy neighbors but we still went on anyway.
——June——
I wake up bright and early to go on my morning run. I made sure to make eddie a good thing of coffee and some breakfast. I put on my running clothes and run out into the street. I decided to stop at the store to get Eddie and I some snacks.
I walk in and fist bump Patrick who was working the cash register. "How you been yn? And how's Eddie?" He asks me.
"He's good and I'm perfectly okay! I'm going to Yale in a month and I'm so excited!" He comes around the counter and hugs me.
"That's amazing yn. So proud of you. What are you planning on becoming?" I don't hesitate and answer.
"A labor and Delivery Nurse. It's been my dream." He gives me free candy bars for both Eddie and I.
"Congratulations and tell Eddie I said hi." He leaves his shift and I see Gareth working the cash register.
"Hey dork!" I flip him off laughing. He flips me off back and I go down the candy aisle.
"Yn?" I turn my head. Shit.
"Oh hi dad." I avoid all eye contact scared of him.
"How have you been! How's Eddie?" He asks excitedly.
"Dad don't act like you care, he's good and I'm going to Yale in a month so I won't have to deal with you and your boyfriends bullshit." I shove past him and buy the snacks for Eddie and I.
I run back home quickly just in case my dad follows me. I rush in and start to panic. Eddie runs down the hall worried. He hugs me tightly and rubs my back.
"Hey whats wrong!" He asks. I can't breathe.
"I saw him Eddie." I stutter. It all clicks in his head.
"Did he hurt you?" I shake my head and put my head in his chest crying hard. "Your okay."
