THE TWO STARED AT EACH OTHER. Before the vibe was nice but now, the tension was thick, and could cut it with a knife. But it didn't feel that way to Kevin, only to Isari which he could tell by the look she held on her face and how she fidgeted with the fuzz on the couch.

Kevin knew what he wanted and he planned to explain that to her in hopes that she would finally stop ducking him. His feelings, though they surprised him, were genuine. He hadn't known her that long but everything felt right with her. He didn't want to continue pursuing her if it wasn't going to get anywhere. If she wasn't trying to further things with him, then he would accept that and keep it moving, even if it would hurt him.

"What's up?" Isari went to adjust herself on the couch so her feet weren't in his lap anymore, but he put his hands around her ankles, massaging her there in hopes of calming her nerves. To Isari, she felt as if her anxiety was a turn-off, but to Kevin, it only boosted his ego knowing that he had such an effect on her.

"Ima' be straight up with you, Ion want to be friends. If you not fuckin' with that just go ahead and let me know now." Kevin noticed how Isari couldn't keep eye contact with him, so he gently placed her feet on the ground and moved to sit beside her, grasping her chin gently with his hand. Her breath hitched and she went to push his hand, but his unoccupied one was quick to grab it.

"I-" Being so close to her, he could smell the same perfume she had been wearing when he first met her. Isari tried to calm her breathing, scared that he could hear her heart pounding against her chest.

"Just use ya words ma and tell me how you feel. If you not fuckin' with me like that-"

"No. No, it's not that..." She cut him off and Kevin took that as a sign to remove his hands from her so she could speak. "You're sure you want to get with someone like me? I mean I strip, people don't particularly hail that profession..."

"Ion care about nun of that. I'm the last person to be judging somebody for they job. You a grown-ass woman doing what you gotta do. It's not like you stripping cause you want to, you tryin' to pay for school and shit." Isari held eye contact with him this time, his words running rapidly through her mind.

"I think I'm just scared...I don't want to get hurt..."

"I feel you ma, I promise that's the last thing I want to do to you." The two stared at each other once more, Kevin watched as her eyes scanned his and he found his body getting hot. Their faces started to inch closer to each other, the breath from her nose fanning his face and making his eyes close.

Their lips brushed against each other before Kevin felt the loss of warmth making him open his eyes. Isari had pulled back, her hand clutched to her chest in an attempt to calm down her heart rate. "...I'll give you a chance." Kevin wouldn't show it, but he was genuinely happy.

Not wanting to move too fast with her or make her uncomfortable, instead of trying to kiss her Kevin just gave Isari a quick kiss to her cheek. Her skin heated up and butterflies filled her stomach. Kevin liked how he affected her so much, and it was one of the many reasons why he continued to pursue her even though she tried to fake like she wasn't interested in him.

With their talk out of the way, Kevin handed Isari back her plate of uneaten food and turned on the TV. so they could start their show. He was finding it hard to focus, there were a plethora of thoughts running through his mind and the body that was snuggled up against him wasn't helping.

He wondered about how he could show Isari that he was serious, he wanted her to take him seriously. He thought about how he needed to actually start taking his music seriously. He thought about how he needed to keep a low profile because he wasn't trying to go back to jail anytime soon, he was already on his second strike.

His phone buzzing in his pocket brought him out of his thoughts. Pulling it out he turned the brightness down since it hurt his eyes and the room was dark. The notification came from instragram, a dm request since whoever it was he didn't follow. Thinking nothing of it, he opened the message without looking at who the account actually belonged to.

@prettygirlashh: hey kay

@prettygirlashh: i heard u out...i miss u

Kevin read over the two messages from his ex-girlfriend, before going to her profile and blocking her. He deleted the message thread and put his phone down on the table beside the couch harshly. He didn't understand why she was texting him when she hadn't done anything but cause him issues and he had made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with her.

In an attempt to calm himself down, he took a couple of deep breaths and tried to focus on the TV. He could feel eyes on him and looked down to see Isari looking at him, her eyes laced with concern. "You ok?"

"Yeah ma, I'm straight." He gave her another kiss on the cheek and pulled her body closer to his, inhaling the smell of her lotion. While her focus went back to the show, Kevin's mind was running even more rapidly than before.
